I got no diarrhea this week when I did it. Just labor. I only did it under my midwife's advisement though. Recipe I used tasted fine and started labor in an hour.
I used it post dates with to start to labors. Successfully. I wasn't on the toilet too long. Actually enjoyed feeling like I didn't have to use the bathroom again during labor. Stay super hydrated and you should be fine.
I just drank a shot with some oj to wash it down. Maybe 2 -3 tablespoons? The first time I didn't go into labor until 24 hours later. The second time I went into labor later the same night.
I put a few tablespoons in oj around 7pm the night before my daughter was born, around 430 am I started contracting and my water broke. I was 5 days overdue.
I tried castor oil with my second after I was already 5 days late. I took two doses of two tbsp each. It resulted in 15 hours of horrible contracting pains but no actual labor. When I finally did go into labor (7 days later) I had her in an hour and a half. I learned my lesson. :-)
Ugggghhh I drank about a half a teaspoon of it and I got so ill that I laid in bed for the rest of the day. I was so incredibly nauseated. It was horrible, and all I could be happy about was the fact that I hadn't taken the whole dose! It probably wouldn't have started my labor, anyway. I still didn't go into labor until 2 weeks later! Just let your baby come when it is time.
Saying, "Let your baby come when it is time" is like crazy talk to a preggo. It's easy to say it once you've had your baby, though. :P I don't have any experience with castor oil but it was interesting to read everyone else's.
The recipe from my midwife had 2 tablespoons of castor oil, twice. You had to take the 2nd dose unless you had a baby in your arms. 1/2 tsp is not enough at all, It did make me puke though so I took the 2nd dose with a gravol
After taking my castor oil at 4am (2oz mixed with 6oz of orange juice) on 8/18, my water broke at 9am. The diarrhea and stomach cramping wasn't bad at all (I only went 4x). I had my baby 15hrs later and had a totally natural birth. So thankful I gave it a try!!
Re: Castor oil experiences, anyone?
I took castor oil in the verbena cocktail from my MW this time at 42 weeks, 2 doses 5 hours apart. 2nd dose was at 8pm, I had my baby at 4:30am.
It works, just not all the time and you have to be ready
