I get that STTN means baby slept for 5 straight hours, but I count it only when ol' ma n pa get at least a solid 6 and we go to bed 2-3 hours after LO.
MY definition of STTN is all night long. DS started doing that last week at 15 weeks but woke up once during the night last night. He's been teething pretty bad so I'm sure I'm in for some rocky nights.
I count STTN when my sleep doesn't get interrupted B sleeps from about 7:30-8ish to 6:30-7ish! She's been sleeping 5+ hours straight since about 4 weeks old (when I stopped nursing, started EPing and giving her bottles).

I put LO to bed around 8-9 and he doesn't wake up to feed until 5:30-6:30. We are finally back on track after the 2-3 week "4-month wakeful" from hellllllll.

Ginny's version of sttn is from 7:30 until around 6:30, but medically speaking, a full night of sleep before needing to eat is more like 6 hours for a baby. More than that is gravy.

Okay, I know this is the technical definition, but it just doesn't cut it for me.
I consider STTN if baby sleeps through the night and wakes up at a time that is actually reasonable for us to wake up... Like 5:30 am or later. We are incredibly lucky because our DS sleeps from 8 p, until 6:30 or 7 am.

Sonya hasn't been going to bed until after midnight, so she technically never sleeps at night. :P So I couldn't even tell you what my definition would be.
This week, though, she's been falling asleep around 2 A.M., but once she's out, she's OUT, and if I don't wake her up earlier, will sleep past noon. Other parents probably judge me for the unconventional hours (my mom certainly does), but after the week from hell that was last week, I'm just glad she's sleeping at all!
he's done 6:30 to 5:45 a few times. agree with PP that sttn for me is when i don't have to wake up in the middle of the night. would prefer he go more like 7:30-6:30 but if we put him to bed later he wakes up more often.
Liam was doing 7-7 for a while, but now hes 7pm-3am then back to sleep until 7. i'm not sure what happened... but hopefully it'll go back to 12 solid hours. either way i'm stoked!
I started considering her STTN when she wouldn't wake up to feed before 5am.... We give her a bath around 9, she's asleep 20 min later and sleeps until 7:30-8:00am now. Love it!
5 hours?!.....I was unaware my baby has been STTN consistently for over 2 months. But no, I consider it when he doesn't have a nightwaking -goes down before 9 and stays down until at least 5. He has slept 9.5 hours in his crib several times and honestly I'm completely fine with one night waking, like he usually does. I realize how lucky I am to usually only have 1.
