DH and I cannot agree on a name and the last time we sat down and tried to seriously discuss it it ended in a shouting match

Boy names are SO HARD for us.
So throw some at me ....
BUT there are a few rules: 1) it can't end with an N. Our last name ends with an N and I feel like the nnnnn sound is too much. 2) I like "old-fashioned" names (think Benjamin - which doesn't work b/c it has the nnn sound, William - which doesn't work because we already have 3 Will's in the family, etc) 3) Our other kids' names are Ella and Jack if that helps (so names like Elijah (Eli), Jacob (Jake), etc won't work because they sound too similar.
I wanted Samuel (Sam), my husband says no way. He wanted Phineas (Finn), but Finn doesn't work with our last name. The only name that we both like is Noah, but I'm not positive it is THEE name for him, ya know?

Re: Will someone name my kid?
We were strongly considering Xander if it was a boy. I'm generally not a huge fan of the nickname-as-first-name phenomenon, but I really like Xander (yes, Buffy fan here, for anybody wondering) and was afraid if we went with Alexander, everyone would call him Alex (which is my nephew's name).
Another strong contender was Riley (another Buffy reference), but it's being used so much for girls now that we crossed it off. If that doesn't bother you, I really like the way Ella, Jack and Riley sound together.
The other name we liked was Owen, but obviously that violates the "n" at the end guideline for you.

Unexplained Infertility
After two Clomid cycles, three injectable IUI cycles, two IVFs, two miscarriages, and one lap surgery, IVF #2 has brought us our little boy!
TTC #2
After months of being postponed or cancelled, FET #1.3 (Natural FET) brought us twin girls!
I feel you on the boy name drama. When the u/s tech told us it was 2 boys at the 20w ultrasound (we had been told B/G at 16w) my first words were, "Now we have to think of TWO boy names!!" It's so hard.
12dp5dt: 765; 15dp5dt: 1979; 17dp5dt: 3379...TWINS!!!!!
Our perfect baby boys were born at 36w1d!!
I like PP's suggestion Oliver. And I always think Riley is better as a boy's name.
I'm thinking maybe Noah as a first name and Thomas as a middle name. I thought of that a few days ago and I think Noah Thomas flows well, but I've been wondering if I'm just settling because this is kinda turning out to be stressful when it should be fun and it's the only name DH and I both have on our list of maybes! I keep searching thinking maybe a different one will just hit me like, "that's it!" Though the more I say Noah over and over again, the more it's kinda growing on me
Maybe I'll give the name hunt a little break and come back to it. Hopefully this little guy will give me at least another 13 weeks or more before I have to decide
IVF # 1 ~ Antagonist ~ ER 1/27/11~ ET 1/30/11 ~ + HPT 7dp3dt
DD born med-free on 10/24/11
I have an uncle named Reid so that makes me think of my other uncles, Bradley and Barry. I like all of those, along with loving Joseph as it is just a great, classic name (and Sully's first name). Noah Thomas I could see as well.
You guys need to do what we did, I just told Chris I was naming our last two as he had sort of decided on names for the first two. I stuck to Irish names but didn't give too much consideration to other people having certain names. If I really love a name I would name my child that even if a close friend had given their child the same name.
Kelly, Mom to Christopher Shannon 9.27.06, Catherine Quinn 2.24.09, Trey Barton lost on 12.28.09, Therese Barton lost on 6.10.10, Joseph Sullivan 7.23.11, and our latest, Victoria Maren 11.15.12
Secondary infertility success with IVF, then two losses, one at 14 weeks and one at 10 weeks, then success with IUI and then just pure, crazy luck. Expecting our fifth in May as the result of a FET.
