Pregnant after a Loss

When did you feel movement?

I'm 18 wks +5 and I felt a funny flutter a few days ago, but nothing going since. To make my anxiety worse, I wasn't able to find a hb on my doppler tonight (I'm not always 100%at using it). But I'm a nervous wreck now and don't now how I'm going to get through the next 2 days till my u/s
... Should I be feeling more movement already?

Re: When did you feel movement?

  • I didn't feel any movement at all until 21.5 weeks. I believe the normal range is 16 - 22 weeks but everyone is different. Try not to freak yourself out w that Doppler! I'm nearly 39 weeks and my OB still can't find the hb right away each time.

  • I've heard 16-22 weeks as well, but have no personal experience.

However, a lady on my birth month board SWEARS she felt her baby kick at 5 weeks, and remained convinced even after we told her the embryo didn't even have limb buds yet.

  • I was closer to 22 weeks before I really felt any movement.  By 24 weeks the movements got much stronger and more consistent.  I have a posterior placenta too, so it just took longer for me to feel her.

  • I'm 21 weeks and just started feeling something (I think) in the last week or so but it's not consistent. My doctor had a hard time finding the hb with the doppler when I was 17w so that's not unusual. If you're worried, maybe you can go in and have the doctor or nurse find it just to reassure you? I do that all the time. I'm sure they think I'm a pain but I'm over it.

  • I started feeling what I thought might be movements around 16 weeks I think, but I wasn't 100% sure about what I was feeling until about 19-20 weeks. Now at 23 he's kicking the crap out of me regularly lol. If you haven't already, YouTube some Doppler using videos, it can really help you get better at finding the baby so you don't freak yourself out :)

  • There is a lot of talk about this on my BMB, those who aren't feeling anything start to feel anxious and nervous. I'm 16w4d today, and I've had a couple of times when I think I may have felt something, but I couldn't be sure, so I'm saying that I haven't felt anything yet. I have some stomach issues, so some of those "flutters" could very well be due to that. It will happen, it is just hard to be patient when you want to feel baby.

  • 15w for "is that it??!" Flutters, 17w was my first real kick, and 20 weeks for something even close to a daily basis. I also had a hard time with the Doppler during that period since he would be all over the place and hard to find. Somedays it was really like playing hide n' seek

  • This time around 13 weeks but very inconsistently. I'm almost 16 weeks now and it's getting more regular but still not consistent. It all depends on placenta placement, how many babies you've had etc. hang in there! Some mamas never feel anything until 20+ weeks

  • I am a FTM, but I felt baby at 17w2d and it has been fairly consistent since then. I am pretty sure that's really uncommon, though. I think my baby is a giant. Or freakishly strong and energetic. I have stopped using my doppler because the HB Is too hard to find these days. Baby runs (swims?) from it. So I go by movement. He moves more when I drink something sugary like a smoothie or fruit juice OR when I lie down on my left side. Praying that you feel your LO again very soon!
