  My DD is all into princesses so she has a lot of crowns, wands & dresses... also loves arts/crafts so all things marker/drawing/activity books/decorating kits like jewelry boxes, etc. She got these twistable crayons for her bday that she loves also... And accessories (headbands, necklaces, bracelets)- children's place is a good one for that type of stuff.
  
  Magnatiles were a big hit for my twins' 4th bday recently.  Hello Kitty CD player w/ karaoke  also was a good one (2 mic's which is good for twins though DD yells at DS for singing too loud on it, you can't win ).  We have a number of books that come with CDs that she likes to listen along to on her own on it too, plus princess song CD, doc mcstuffins CD, jake &the neverland pirates CD....
  
  books- pinkalicious & fancy nancy are new favorites.  Both my kids really like getting High Five magazine also.
  
  We got them bikes for their bday...

  DD got a Benny the Bull for Christmas and she still jumps on it on a daily basis. That and her wheely bug and probably the most used toys we own. She has finally figured out how to jump rope, so that's a favorite, and she also has moved up to the 20+ piece puzzles and will do them over and over again.
