Anyone going through teething yet?

I have no idea what is going on with my LO. I am FTM so I have never gone through this. My LO has been coughing slightly, drooling, lots of boogies and obsessed with getting eating his hands. At first I thought he was getting sick but just seems like he has boogies, no runny nose. No fever.

The last 2 days, he seems so sad. He is not interested in playing with his toys. He wont fall asleep unless its on me, which is strange. He loves his bouncy chair but wants nothing to do with it. He whimpers when he nurses and whimpers when he takes a bottle.

I tried giving him a teething ring but he isn't coordinated enough to put it in his mouth. I tried to put in his mouth and he looked like he was chewing on dirt.

He just turned 3 months. Could this be teething already? What can I do to help him?

Re: Anyone going through teething yet?

  • Yup being going through this for a week, she is usually so happy and now is so grumpy. I don't even want to take her anywhere cause she is too sad.

  • My lo has been teething for the past week. Poor baby is a cranky drooly mess and I've become her favorite chew toy!
  • I'm a FTM and could have written the same exact post. My LO turned 3 months on the 6th and is the exact same way. Drooling like crazy, coughing (because of all the saliva I think), fighting the one bottle a day I give him, and today started crying instead of just his normal whimpers when going down for a nap. I've been trying to figure out if he's teething too! Hmm...
  • I'm glad you posted this. My LO is doing the same!!

The Heath visitor said LO had two teeth coming through at 8 weeks but we've had no coughing or fever just frothy saliva and lots of hand chewing. It doesn't seem to be troubling her. I have been told that it's less painful the sooner it starts.

  • DS has been drooling like crazy and has his hands in his mouth as much as we will let him. We also think its teething. He will be 3 most on the 15th

  • Mine seems to have all the symptoms except fever so I've been wondering the same. She wants to chew on toys so badly but they are all so big and she gets frustrated she can't get them in her mouth.

If anyone has the same issue, these are nice and tiny for little hands: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000ZYL63Q/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?qid=1376392610&sr=8-2&pi=SL75

  • My ds turned 3 months on the 7th and he's had his hands in his mouth for a couple of weeks. I was wondering the same thing...

    next question...

Teething toys? I just saw a cute smaller version of the baby Sophie teething toy in TRU the other day.

I have used the teething tablets for all 3 of my kids. I love them! I have just started using them on Alexander and he is a happier baby after. I am still giving them to my almost 14 month old while he is cutting his molars. They don't work as great for the molars it seems but he isn't fussing if I give them to him just chewing on things. I will say at 3 months old only give LO 1. Even tho the directions say 2-3 I think they are for babies 4mo and older. @ohgrl95

  • I haven't heard of the teething tablets.. I'll have to look into that. LO is 3 mo and has been a drooling mess for the past two weeks.  Luckily she's started to gain enough coordination to hold onto a teether.  She's got a great disposition, but has been especially fussy for the past few days.

I bought a pack. It says dissolve under tongue. Is that how you did it? Im wondering how that is going to work out.

  • At this age put it under the tongue and hold it there for just a sec till it starts to dissolve. It will be like a paste then you can rub it over the gums. Rubbing the gums helps LO feel better plus makes sure the tablets get to all areas since you don't know which tooth is bothering him/her. By 6 months I would just put it under the tongue and let them spread it with their tongue because they already had at least a tooth and I didn't want them biting me.

  • Question for those going through teething... J has two hard white spots on the FRONT of his gums. Are the teeth coming in wrong? Is it just how they appear before poking through the correct way? Are we doomed for braces?

I can't answer your question but since DH an I both had braces, we imagine LO will need them.

  • Just bought the teething tablets last night. Two of my coworkers swear by them. I wasnt sure if LO was teething, but after talking to them (who both have 3 kids each), it sounds like he is. He drooling and really fussy and chewing on the nipples of bottles. Poor guy.

  • I tried the tablets. They just kind of melted in his mouth, sticking them under his tongue just didnt happen.  He did seem better afterwards. Well he slept anyway and had a pleasant disposition when he woke up.

Today he has seemed fine so far so we haven't needed to use them. I did notice at the store that Orajel has a 'all natural' gel that seemed to have the exact same ingredients as the tablets.

  • My guy seems to be teething, too. No fever, but fussy, chewing his hands, drooling, and tugging at his ears at times. And his bottom front gums are white and swollen.
