Has anyone thought about/planned their announcements?

Since this is #2, and my parents' 12th grandchild - I thought about doing something with a dozen eggs to tell my siblings, but to tell my mom, I plan on asking her to go with me to the Carter's outlet by her and pick up a 'big sister' shirt while there. For the FB world, probably just a simple 'Mmmm, pickles and ice cream' post should do it, and for work - since I work with a bunch of gossipy ladies, telling 1 person should ensure the while company knows in a few minutes. Not sure what to do with DH's family yet.

We will probably do something related to the Miami Dolphins. H is a HUGE fan, and I'm becoming one. Our guestbook at our wedding was a Dolphins jersey with our last name on it, and the year we got married (12) that everyone signed. It's now framed and hanging in our house :-)

Not sure what we'll do yet. Maybe each put on our jerseys, stand in front of our framed jersey, and hold up a little jersey? Or hold a little jersey up to my belly? Or do some kind of graphic with the u/s pic that says something like, "Littlest Dolphin Fan, arriving in time for Spring Training, 2014"

We took a picture with our dogs head resting on my stomach and it will say something like "officially on guard dog duty" with the due date. I'm waiting to order them until after our first ob appointment.

ah, we might tell our parents this Friday at my DD 2nd birthday dinner. working out something along the lines of her getting a sibling as a bday gift but she'll have to wait until April. Not sure though if its still too soon or it might muddle her "special day" (but who am i kidding, she's 2, everyday is special)

as for FB and far away family...it will be mid-october at 12w. I'm thinking of snapping a pic with 4 pumpkins on the porch. 3 with our first initials carved in and the 4th with a question mark.

I couldn't keep #2 a secret... I waited until 15 weeks with #1 lol. I will post the sonogram on fb... our wedding is in 9 days so we might make an announcement after dinner.

I'm not sure I can wait even til my 1st appointment on Sept 20. Work will know earlier - maybe just after Labor Day. I'm up for review on Sept 17, so I want to be sure they know, JUST IN CASE it were to change their decision in a raise.

DD's big sister shirt just came in the mail. I was going to take a picture of her in it, then one of her holding a copy of the ultrasound, then one of her holding a sign that says "baby brother or sister coming April 2014" and put all the pics together.

I already told both families and we came out on FB because my DH couldnt hold it in anymore.

We put DD is a big sister shirt I bought from TG and Face Timed the families with her. And FB we both wrote a nice letter to our Friends and Family about how amazing it is to have a daughter but whats even better is for her to have a Sibling. Then I posted a pic of DD in her Big Sister shirt holding my positive test.

I think for the in-laws, we may do it on their 40th wedding anniversary

For my family, we have a prayer that we recite from heart at every meal, and I think it'd be fun to add in "And bless our baby too" non-chalantly at the end. See how long it takes it to register.

Everyone else - we have to find out when we'll be seeing them next since we have a lot of out-of-town family and friends.

We've just told people... no special reveal method. We did drive to my parents' house to surprise them with the news, which was fun. I'll probably post a bump or u/s pic on FB to reveal online in a week or two. Much less fanfare when it's A) not your first child and

your 4th time being pregnant in a year.

I got this onesie for DS to wear when we tell DH's family in a few weeks:

We will tell our extended family and other friends at DS's first birthday party, which is Cat in the Hat theme. DS will have a onesie that says "Thing ONE" (since he's one) and I will be wearing a shirt with an arrow pointing to my belly that says "Thing 2".

He I got fabric pain and wrote I'm going to be a big sister on one of my lg t-shirts which I will show my mum during our morning facetimes (she's lives in Australia), my oh sister probably text her the pic and post the pic on fb too

My son's second bday party is Sept 14. We are announcing at his party with a big bro tshirt or something like that for him.

We'll just tell my parents (they live just a few miles away and we see them a lot, so it would be hard to hide for long) but I'm thinking about announcing it to the rest of the family at DS's first birthday party in October. As for facebook? Last time I posted "Husband's name is having a baby and I'm pretty sure it's mine", so I'll have to come up with something else clever again. We won't announce until the families have been told though so not for awhile still.

@fireflygirl12 that's the same shirt I ordered for my son! We are going to announce when my MIL comes to visit next month. It's a little early but it will be the first time we will get to tell a family member in person so we are excited. I think we will FaceTime my family then too to keep it "fair".

My goal is to wait until Christmas, and hope we know a gender, and do something then. With DS, we found out we were having a boy the week before Easter (which was a 25 person meal at my parent's house), so we made little goodie bags with stork cut-outs and stuck a blue peep in each one. Probably do something similar for this one, but Christmas (or Halloween/Thanksgiving, if I start showing) themed.

Everyone's ideas are adorable!! The thing I'm struggling with now is do we tell just parents and sibling now or wait to tell them the weekend after our first appt on sept 5th??

This will be our first but we have had a fur-baby for 3 years! For my parents, I bought our pup a bandanna that says big brother! I'll let him run around the house with it on until they notice and then give them a picture frame of my 4 week belly and/or something that says great parents get promoted to grandparents.

For DH's parents, brother and SIL, I got my niece a tshirt that says I'm getting a baby cousin - April 2014... I'm going to go change her or something and then have her walk out in it!

SIL calls her monkey so it was perfect!

For the rest of the world, no idea! That won't be until 16-20 weeks... close friends and work 8-10 weeks and then extended family around 12-14! More than likely something fun that involves our dog and/or a picture! I love the apple orchard in the fall so maybe something there?!? Suggestions welcomed!!

DD's bday party is 8.24. We plan to have everyone together for a group picture. We'll announce "Say, Cheese"... and then "Say, Hadley is going to be a big sister!"
That way we can get their reactions on camera!

We announced to our parents & siblings last weekend. We invited everyone over for a BBQ and I had cupcakes made with a baby theme (bottled/booties/rattles). Then 2 cupcakes said "I'm Pregnant" and our EDD of 4/14/14.. So after we ate I brought out dessert! This is our first and will be the first grandchild on my side of the fam. Everyone was crying and so excited! Then we ate cupcakes! Win-win!!

Oooh! Where did you get the shirt? I was thinking of doing something similar - getting my nephew something like this to tell my sister.

i posted this on another thread related to this recently, but here it is again...

this is baby #1 so can't do the big brother/sister idea.. we are making the 3 hour drive north this weekend to tell both our moms. They are not going to expect this at all .. they knew our timeline for trying and this baby was a surprise. My plan is to tell them we have a small gift for them (will do this individually with each but use same idea). Then ask them to put out their hand and close their eyes, and will put a pea or small blueberry in the palm of their hand. Am going to wait for them to be stumped for a bit and then say "that's how big your first grandbaby is right now". I'm super excited to tell my mom. It's been killing me keeping it from her (i tell her everything) but i really wanted to break the news in person, especially for the first.

I'm debating telling my grandparents and aunt who will also be around this weekend. I'm going to consult my mom to see what she says. It's my grandfather's birthday on Sunday, so if we do tell, will probably pick something up or frame my u/s (got one today!)

For FB it will be something Red Wings related. We're both pretty big fans so maybe something about "pulling the goalie" lol but we're not sure yet!!

We told his parents by putting a "big sister" shirt on our doggie! She was so good about it and when we got there they didn't really notice but then I said "Luna has something to tell you guys" they realized it and started laughing & crying.

I told my sister by sending her a pic of my 3 hpts saying "Hey Aunt Shanny!!" LOL she was very happy and excited!!

We are driving to see my parents, grandmother and sister tomorrow and Chinese food (homemade!) is on the menu. So today I swapped out the fortunes on a bunch of fortune cookies to read "Good things come to those who wait. Baby Holmes arrives April 2014!" and re wrapped them. I can't wait to see everyone's reaction as we have been trying for a year and a half now.

We are telling my mom tonight. Since we were going to an RE and she had been watching DS1 when I went for appts, she knows whats going on and will get suspicious soon. Plus, I am too close to my mom to keep secrets. I have held it in for 3 days and that's been hard enough.

As for everyone else, we will probably announce to friends and family at ds birthday party in october, and we will take a pic of him in his big brother shirt with a cute message for FB.

(This is baby #2 for us together.) I speak French, so i teach my daughter French as well, and ours families have been excited to see what else she's learned in French lately. We've really been working on body parts for a while, so we're gonna have her show off all the ones she knows, the at the end, I'll ask "ou eat le bebe?" (Where is the baby?) When you ask her that, she points to my belly and kisses it usually. Hopefully she does as planned. Lol. For my husband's grandma, who lives in PA and we don't get to see, we're sending flowers from my daughter saying: For you, Mimi, from the world's newest big sister, Evelyn"
For FB, we're gonna have my husband video my daughter's new tricks when she demonstrates then to my mom this weekend so that we can get their reaction, and we'll post that on FB.
