12 month apptmnt. Peanut check in

Well dd is still very much a peanut. Had her 12 month appmnt today and she weighed in at 17 lbs 2 oz. 3rd percentile. Last time she was between 3 and 5th for height and weight.

Is she the littlest one? Doc is still not concerned but just said wed keep watching her and to try and increase fat in foods like avacado and even peanut butter

Where are the other peanuts and how big are they now?

Re: 12 month apptmnt. Peanut check in

  • We will get the official word about her weight at her appointment on Wednesday. I think she might be hovering around 18lbs though. We saw a friend yesterday and her son is 6 months old and weighs more than 20lbs! L is a great eater too. I don't know where it all goes, ha ha!

  • My little guy turns 1 at the end of August and he is currently about 18 pounds.  At his 9 month appt. doc said to give him lots of "good" fat like avocado and use olive oil on almost everything else which we have been doing.  I am interested to see what she says at LO's1 year appt.

  • She had her appointment this morning. 27 1/2 inches long, 16 lbs 7 oz. She is doing great, hitting all her milestones and walking like a champ. The pediatrician recommended "chubby milk" which is a mix of WCM and half and half. We're going to see how she is doing at 15 months but he wasn't overly concerned.

  • Peanut  here too! LO weighed in at 17lb 4oz (17th percentile) but height was only at 4th percentile! No concern from doctor just said I'm short and some other relatives so she'll be short :)

  • Had his 1 year appt today.  18 lbs, 29 inches.  Doing great!  Dr recommended plant based milk instead of whole.  He says whole milk causes more problems than helps.  So I'm gonna try almond milk.

  • DD was 18 lbs and 29 1/2 inches. She eats so so much too. Sometimes she eats all day long. Doc said she is fine, just petite. :) That was 10th percentile for weight and almost 50th for height.

  • 19lbs, 11 oz yesterday at home. Hovering around the 12th %. Hoping to hit 20 lbs for his 1 yr appt.
  • DD doesn't see her pedi for another couple weeks since she turns 1 on September 1st.  When I weighed her, she was at 19.2lbs.  She's somewhere between 29 and 30 inches if I'd have to wager a guess.  I still feed on demand in the MOTN, try to push table foods at every turn, and buy her the only pouches she'll take - which happen to be the most expensive at Target.

  • we won't be a year until the 22nd.  we had a possible ear infection apt last week and came in at 17 lbs 7oz. her 12 mo apt isn't until the first week of September so I don't know exact %% yet.  but no, you're not the only one with a peanut.

I have so many ppl ask me when i'm out if she's like 6 months old.

Just almond milk might not have enough of the good fat your looking for. I mix almond milk and whole coconut milk for Addie to give her a good mix of healthy fats.

  • we're doing the transition to whole goats milk (can buy in powder form). I bought a quart first to see how she did with it and so far so good. I've done the plant based ones myself, but my pedi said to wait on those until she's older.

  • Just had DS's 12 month appt a few days ago and he is now 20lbs 1 oz, and 30in.  He went from the 3rd% in weight from birth-9 months to 13th% YAY!!! finally my peanut put some weight on.
However I do attribute it to transitioning to WCM at just over 11 month- and he literally bulked up in about 2 weeks and actually looked chunky but in the past few days he is not looking as chunky- so Im thinking he just had a growth spurt!

  • Isa is 18.13 lbs and 28.5". She didn't gain anything between 6-11 months. Then from 11-12 months she gained almost 2 lbs.

  • Yeesh, I'm staring to think I have the smallest 1 year old in the country.... She just hit 13lbs last week and is between 26-26.5 inches. When its just us she doesn't seem that tiny but you can see they difference when she's with other kids her. she's hitting her milestones and being followed for her growth and development.

Wow, that is really small. Have they checked her for any malabsorbtion problems? I'm sorry, I know it's tough to worry about your child's weight.

DD was in the 5th percentile at the last check up. I think she's about 17 lbs now.
  • We had an appointment with a pediatrician in may and will have a follow up hopefully at the end of the month or beginning of sept to see where to go from here. Her thyroids were checked at 6months with no concerns, however I am going to bring up the possibility of a gluten intolerance or some kind of digestive issues. Any of these little peanuts have celiac or digestive issues?

    Was doc concerned?

Are you petite? Im more concerned since im not a short person bit was small when i was a baby
  • He wasn't overly concerned in may-baby was very constipated so he thought once we sorted that out and got her on a high fat diet she would start gaining, which she has been in the last two months which is really great to see. And yes, I am petite and was her size as a baby, so genetically she's bound to be pretty small

  • @latnprincess I do almond milk for DD. The dr hasn't told me anything about fat content. In fact, as I said above, she gained almost 2 lbs in one month drinking almond milk and eating solids.

My lo has had some digestive issues, and feeding issues too. We've been seeing a gi and dietitian pretty regularly since early December. I pump and fortify his milk and he is slowly starting to eat more food. He has made progress with weight gain and we have noticed an improvement with frequency and consistency of stools. He is treated as a peanut by his doctors because of his cardiac defect and the importance of him gaining well as soon as possible, but when I read threads like this, it seems that he isn't quite as small as I've been made to think. As of last week he was 20 lbs 11 oz.

I do recommend that you seek the help of specialists. May until now seems like a long time to wait if there may be some issue. I wish you good luck.

My little guy has digestive issues with dairy products.

He is a little over 15 lbs now. We just started him on high calorie GI friendly formula, and he's still nursing. He also drinks almond milk, but I was told to only use it for taste/supplementing. He really likes the almond milk, but it's not high enough in calories for his needs.

Didn't you tell us yesterday that your LO was 38 lbs? Nice exaggeration there.

I seem to remember you mentioned a specific height too.

Oh no! Do you have short term memory loss????

It wasn't my IG photo that was blasted... it was a friend, whom I've had since childhood, that had her picture blasted...
My son is 38' and weights 28lbs.. and his convertible car seats where both rear facing until his doctors agreed that he was big enough to be forward facing. I can send you plenty of pictures supporting that. My intentions were to leave him rear facing until 18 months but I could not physically get him in an out of my Saturn Ion... it was a fight. My husband is a 6'7" beast and I'm not short myself... so it's genetically disposed for this kid to be large...

  • Rho, I think later she said she switched the numbers, so he was 28 in and 38 lbs. All of us were scratching our heads at a 38 lb kid. Now he's 25. Whatevs.
Yeah, I can't keep up.  Then she says she has no idea what his height is.
