Face Plant Stories

My sweet 13 month old had a really sad face plant today. Her little gums have been bloody and it looks like her little nose is starting to bruise. A fun trip to the Science Museum turned out to be a sad ride home. While climbing on some mats, my little one decided to walk right off of a slighty elevated mat. One foot may have hit the floor before her sweet little face caught the rest of the blow. Talk about feeling terrible as a mama! I was right there. It just happened too quickly for me to catch her.

It's been a rough day here. She's a trooper. The doctor was called right away, and we are keeping a close eye on it. I just thought it could be helpful to hear stories from other mamas. :)

Re: Face Plant Stories

  • About a month ago H was watching T in the living room, and I went out to the garage to grab something out of my car. Apparently he wasn't watching her very closely and I hadn't shut the door all the way. I turned around to find her stepping off the small step into the garage and wasn't fast enough to catch her, she fell and faceplanted and bloodied her nose. MOTY.

  • lainikins Thanks!! It is so scary and hard to watch them get hurt!  Definitely not fun!
stephaniefine So sorry you went through that too, but YES... I am definitely hoping that this helps to instill a healthy sense of fear.  My little babe is so adventurous.  A little dose of natural consequences could be helpful!
RTaylor12  So feel you on MOTY!
jfresh  I definitely need to just avoid GOOGLE when this stuff happens.  Makes a mama worry too much!! :)
  • Chloe just face planted on the stairs Sunday.  She has a nice goose egg and red/purplish bruise to show for it between her eyes on her forehead.  Poor thing.  I told daddy to help her learn to climb the stairs since we have them and I would rather her know how than to fall.  Well, I guess her first attempt was not so successful.  She barley cried and just got back up and tried again.  Silly girl!  I can honestly say that she has hit her head pretty hard a few times, but every time, she seems fine.

  • OMG my kid face plants quite often. She is generally sprouting 1 or 2 bruises on her forehead. Poor thing. It's part of learning to walk.
