frozen cake question

Our anniversary is saturday. I froze the top of our wedding cake and i want to eat it on saturday!
When do you think i should take it out of the freezer? Should i put it from freezer to fridge? I have it wrapped in a billion layers of tin foil and plastic wrap. Should i unwrap it right away?

    I took ours out and put it in the fridge the night before. Then about an hour before we wanted to eat it, I took it out of the fridge, unwrapped it, and left it on the counter. I actually couldn't believe how good it tasted a whole year later!
