crazy cycle this time around!

Wow have I had a crazy cycle this time around! DH and I are only able to afford fertility treatment and IUI every two months, so in between we just try naturally. So I am currently on no fertility medications, and know that the following isnt the result of fertility treayment medications. On CD 10 I got a positive OPK and we BD on the appropriate nights, plus the two consecutive days before my positive OPK. For the past two days ive had some very mild cramping, the same kind I get around O, plus I had a big clump of creamy CM (sorry TMI)this morning at, what according to my positive OPK test, should be 6DPO. So I took another OPK, and it was another shocking positive OPK! I've heard that it's rare that a woman will ovulate twice in the same cycle, but that it does happen....however this is a first for me! Super strange! Im not sure which test to believe, so I guess DH and I will BD as if an O is on the horizon!

Re: crazy cycle this time around!

  • Sometimes those things are a little wonky and not as reliable as temp.  I've gotten OPKs for a week a few times.  The last time, I was also being monitored, and it turned out I ovulated pretty late...not sure if my LH levels were high enough to show the + but not enough to ovulate until way later.  It can mean a lot of things, which is always the annoying part - no simple answer.

    Me 33, DH 37 -- TTC since Jan'12 -- Low AMH (0.78) & endo, SA w/ low motility
    IUI's 1-3 = BFN, IVF converted to IUI 4/13 = BFN
    IVF 1.2: 8R 6M 4F -- 2 blastocysts frozen, FET 8/15 = BFP!!
    Beta #s = 445;1,098; 9,545  -- EDD 5/2 -- Team Pink!
    Camila Josephine arrived 4/30 :)

  • Lol isnt that always the case with this whole "trouble TTC" thing?! There really arent any A typical or normal answers for half the stuff that goes on with our bodies!
  • Yeah, I think it's more common that you geared up to O and didn't when you got the first positive test. I would HIO now just in case you're ovulating now. I'd also keep this is mind when you're trying to decide when to expect AF or a positive test. Either way, good luck with this cycle!

  • Great advice! That's something that hadn't crossed my mind. Huess theres a whole new week that she could arrive in if this O is the real one!
  • Yeah, my guess would be that you didnt actually ovulate the first time and are getting ready to ovulate now..because you cant ovulate twice in the same cycle (unless they are at the same time and you can get fraternal twins).  Definitely keep that in mind when you decide to test.  Good luck!
