Question for those who registered at Bru

When you selected big items were you asked if you wanted the protection plan? I bought a car seat base for a friend and when I was checking it the guy made a big deal about looking at the registry and showing me the protection plan was requested and how I should really get it because it was what she wanted, I didn't want to but he pushed really hard and made me feel like I was going against her wishes if I didn't buy it. I have bought a lot of baby gifts in the past and never been asked about this. I kind of feel it was worthless to buy. She will only use the base for about 6 months and mst likely graco would cover anything. I Al's feel if she did request it, it was pushy to request guests buy the extra protection plan. I was almost wondering if it was automatically selected by Bru and they push it to get the extra money from suckers Iike me!

Re: Question for those who registered at Bru

  • When we registered they asked us if we wanted to allow guests the option to purchase the protection plan with large items.  I don't even remember what we decided, but that store clerk should not have made you feel that way.

  • That's pretty crappy he made you feel that way. DH used to work at Best Buy, they had to have so many protection plans sold each month, or it would affect bonuses etc, and so he made his employees push them pretty hard. I guarantee you that's what was going on with BRU. A store protection plan on a car seat???? No thank you!!!!! That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

  • It was an option on the registry but not a requirement.  I think that this is related more to the cashier's personality.  Usually when I am asked about extra plans when buying anything, it's a simple yes or no to satisfy the cashier.

  • I created a BRU registry online and I'm pretty sure this is a separate item that can be registered for or not.  It sounds like either your friend did have this on her list (which doens't mean that you have to purchase it for her) or this jerk sales person was trying to make a quota

  • Even if she had it on her registry, the car base should be covered under the manufacturer warranty so I don't know why you would need to purchase another warranty on it....

  • I wouldn't have bought it
  • I know.... But the guy kept saying it was what she wanted, how it covers os much more and honesty I just wanted to get out of the store but the more I thought about it at home, there annoyed I was I bought it.

I agree! There should be a return window for the protection plan.

  • They asked me if I wanted it offered when I was registering. I said no and the lady insisted that they at least offer it to the guests and if they wanna buy it they can. I was like okay.. Whatever. If I find out that they harass my friends/family I'll be ticked!! I didn't want it anyway!

  • Another BRU fail. They are seriously awful but have such a corner on the baby market...I could go on but I won't :)
Can't figure out a siggy for my life, but just in case: DD 6/11/04 DS 8/13/08 DD 10/4/13
  • that was absolutely about the employee trying to meet his " protection plan" goal. my friend manages a BRU and apparently the plans are a big deal and so many need to be sold a day. You should definitely go and get your money back... which will really piss them off ;)
