Cedar Park Hospital... Anyone deliver here?

I'm going on 19 weeks pregnant and haven't really known anyone to deliver at the new(ish) Cedar Park Hospital. Anyone have any info to give us?

I know this sounds crazy because I'm so far along, but I'm thinking about switching doctors, then I would deliver at St. Davids (off mopac/toll road).

Re: Cedar Park Hospital... Anyone deliver here?

  • I have a friend who works there. Sounds like they aren't super busy. Expect lots of attention, to the point that it would annoy me.  From what she shared, it seems like they have a really nice set up there.

    Good luck!

  • Haven't heard anything about Cedar Park, but St David's is what we were planning to use. We hired a doula simce I am now 29 weeks and juat moved to the area... She warned against St. David's saying that she has seen many women treated poorly if they have special requests. When I say special requests I basically mean advocating for yourself. She said even the midwife portion is very pushy.

  • Sorry this is coming so late after your original post, I'm not on here very frequently anymore but I delivered at Cedar Park last year and LOVED it. I have several friends who have also delivered there and pretty much everyone I have talked to has had a positive experience.

I spent all day in L&D but ended up with a c-section (my water broke on its own at 36 weeks but labor never progressed, even with help) and spent 3 days there in the mother/baby unit and everyone I dealt with was fabulous. The lactation consultant, Diba, is seriously amazing. Even if you don't end up delivering there if you decide you want to breastfeed I highly, HIGHLY recommend her breastfeeding support group! The facility is new and nice and comfortable. We did get tons of attention, especially at night, because there weren't many other women there but I think they've been having more and more deliveries there since then.

By comparison, my sister had a baby at Seton downtown four months after my son was born and her experience was worlds away from mine. There wasn't as much attention to detail, the lactation consultant never came to see her, the hospital was out of ibuprofen (??!) after her delivery, and since it's an older hospital it was kind of uncomfortable. Totally not saying that's everyone's experience there, that's just what I have to compare my own experience to. :)

Definitely go visit Cedar Park, take a tour, meet the nurses, etc. to decide for yourself but when baby #2 comes along I'm not interested in delivering anywhere else!

I also had a great experience at CPRMC. The staff was very accommodating, friendly, and calming. It was my first pregnancy so I really appreciated feeling very taken care of and not rushed or pressured :) I love that they leave the babies in the room with you and don't take them away to a nursery. The nurses were incredible and I can't recommend this hospital enough!

  • This is such great news! Thank you all so much for replying. Since this is all so new to me, it's a bit scary. But thanks for the positive replies!
  • I'm actually planning on delivering at cp at the end of September. I highly recommend the tour, as a FTM I had a bazillion questions which the nurse answered. even though they have a pull out couch for the husband, the nurse saw how tall my husband was and told us they also have foldups they can bring in for taller hubbies. I had to go to LD a couple of weeks ago bc of lack of baby movement (she ended up kicking once I got hooked up to the monitors). The check in was extremly fast and they had a nurse and a room already waiting for me by the time I finished the check in. The nurse was very attentive and kind.
  • Worked as a Labor and Delivery nurse there for 2 years and also delivered there. Great hands... My baby came early and was handled perfectly. LOVE LOVE LOVE!
