Preemies and playgroups - advice please

Hi, I just enrolled in the area's moms group organization. I'm mainly interested in introducing my son to a playgroup. He had almost no exposure to other small children. So this would be new to both of us.

LO is 14 months adjusted. (He is a 31 week preemie). 

There is an open playgroup for birthdates August 2012 to January 2013. My son't birthday is April 2012 (due date June 2012). He is almost walking, no words yet . Per PT he is 10 months in some areas. 
I think he'll be ok in this group althought he would be "the oldest". 
Any suggestions? what's you'r experience with playgroups?

    Both of my kids have done well playgroups that I have gone to on meetup.com.  With my daughter, she is almost walking, but she prefers to walk on her knees or crawl.  And there are no words yet.  She kinda says words, but I do not think she knows what she is saying.  And she babbles a lot in her little girly way.  I am okay for her to be around toddlers and babies as well.  There are so many milestones and each child gets there at their own pace.  I have even enrolled her in a Music Rhapsody class for September at a dance school.  My son is really outgoing, but I am thinking that my daughter might be more shy or to herself.  So I thought this would be a class that would help her to be more social and age appropriate as well.
