Pitocin and Water Birth

I will likely be induced on Wednesday. My OB says she will use Pitocin only, not any intravaginal medications. Has anyone labored in a birthing tub/delivered in a tub while on an IV? I figure as long as I keep my arm out of the water I should be able to do it. I completely forgot to ask her during my visit.

I know inducing is more likely to end with interventions such as an epidural, but I would like to try naturally if at all possible.

    They will want to do continuous monitoring, is that possible underwater? 

    If it's not possible you could always ask them to shut the Pit off after contractions are well established, then providing everything looks good, you should be able to get into the water.  I have a friend who do that.  A lot could happen between now and Wednesday, so it's not over yet!

    This is what my dr's said they will do if I end up needing an induction.

    See if they have a telemetry (wireless) unit for monitoring. I don't know about having an IV in the tub. I had a heplock that was placed, but not hooked up, and I labored in the tub. Just ask, hopefully you can do some pit and then move to the water. Good luck!

    You will probably want to make sure labor is well established first since the water can cause it to stall and a stalled induction can easily lead to a c-section.
