Tentative Intro **updated**

Hi everyone. I have been lurking around for a few days after I got an obvious BFP after a couple of squinters, but my plan was to wait to intro until after yesterday's doctor urine test and I got everything confirmed. Unfortunately I'm still in limbo. All my home tests have been progressively darker, but the doctor was a little more traumatic. When the girl initially gave me my results she said "congrats! You're positive. Here is your information and a copy of your results. Someone will call you in a couple of days about scheduling your first u/s." I was elated! I had been worried about doing a mid-day test because I'm so early. But then I started flipping through the info when I got to the car and kept looking at the test result sheet. "HCG not detected". I kept thinking I must have been reading it wrong because she looked right at it and said positive. I tried to talk myself out of it, but I went upstairs and asked her to clarify my results for me. First she said she must have thrown away the sheet with the positive result for me. Then her face dropped and she said that I must have actually been negative and she just told me wrong. They said to come back in Friday, but it sucks still living in ambiguity. I'm assuming my home tests are right until something can prove otherwise (ie my period) so thank you already for keeping me company.

Anyway, I'm 30, DH is military and we live in southern CA with our DS who is 2.5 and a black lab. I'm happy to be here and really hope I get to stay!

**updated- I went in today for my re-test and finally got an actual positive!

I called before I went in and talked to the girl who had made the mistake initially and she told me that she had checked on my lab test later that day and that it had turned positive after 10 min, so she was confident that this one would be a no brainer.

When she called me up to give me my results she did the "congrats! It's positive!" Speech again. My first response was "can I see it really quick?" I wasn't getting excited until I saw the results myself. But I'm excited to report that at 5 weeks, everyone agrees I'm having a baby!

  • Welcome! Yeah it doesn't give the warm fuzzies when they aren't even sure if they gave you the right info. I'm sure if you are getting positives at home you have nothing to worry about!

  • Congrats! I'm sure everything will work out for you--it's weird that she read the results wrong though, but I'm hoping for you that when you go back Friday you will get the positive!

  • Sometimes dr's urine tests are not as sensitive as home tests, which brand have you been using?  Sorry for the limbo land you are in !  Hope everything turns +++++ on your end soon!
  • A line is a line. You're pregnant, girl. Congrats!!!

  • Thanks so much for the support everyone.

I've been using the FRER so I know they are pretty sensitive. Hopefully when I go in Friday I can get my + and officially join the group.

  • I would be livid if a nurse did that! I would honestly not wait until Friday. I would be on the phone with the supervisor letting them now what happened. (and I'm not generally a complainer).

Same here, DH is a DoD police officer at Miramar and we live in Murrieta, we were both active duty at one time... Good luck and t & p to you! Hopefully we will be seeing you a lot more around here :)

  • I really wish I'd been thinking straight and asked for a blood test. That is what they did with DS and everything was so clear and concise. I think I was just so stunned that I just wanted to get out of there.

@puggleMama520 - we are at miramar too! DH flies the MV-22 Osprey. He was none too pleased to see the results of military medicine at work. Hopefully ill be around a lot more!

AF was due today and so far nada...so hopefully this whole mess will be cleared up soon.

Yeah... I know military/VA care is better than no care, but the standards are just too low. See if you can get a referral to a civilian doctor! If this whole thing pans out for the both of us (fingers x) we should definitely meet up for (decaf) coffee when we can sport our cute little bumps ;)

  • Believe it or not, Miramar is significantly better then LeJeune where I started off my pregnancy with DS. I loved my experience at Balboa when DS was born and I was very happy with my midwife at Miramar, but so far the girls at the front have been less than thrilling!

Are you saying on base or going out in town? We can have a waiting room picnic on day!

  • That is SO good to hear because I have heard so many horror stories (@ Pendelton) so I'm glad you've had good experiences! Since DH is civilian we have blue shield of CA insurance so I go to an OB up here in Murrieta, rumored to be amazing so we shall see... I use VA for primary care still though to avoid the copy's so I guess I will only really use his insurance to pop this LO out!

  • I just wanted to say congratulations and welcome.  If you are getting that many positive home tests, you are pregnant.  I hope you get everything straitened out at the doctor on Friday.   Sorry that you have to deal with that stress though.

  • Thanks so much everybody! Hearing that all of you tend to think what I'm thinking about the doc's test being off, not mine really makes the wait easier.

This baby certainly does have a flair for the dramatic! I guess peanut wants to make a grand entrance.
