My newest is those stupid Hallmark books that you record your voice. Every now and again, I will flip the light on in some random room, and my MIL's voice will come blaring through those tiny speakers.
I think I hate every VTech toy ever made. Especially that "crazy legs" bug that says "come play with us!" I always think of the twins from The Shining.
True story-- with the exception of scout I've taken the toys out of every vtech toy. My sil buys my kids solely that for every birthday. Lol
I hate most Vtech and many leapfrog toys. Luckily my daughter doesn't care for the noisy interactive toys either. Her favorites are plastic playsets and figurines--usually no noise (or maybe a slight noise effect), no batteries to change. Dishwasher and shower safe.
I seriously gave away most of our leapfrog/vtech toys.
But the bonus of those toys is you can give them to people you don't care for!
Even though it is frustrating trying to keep track of a million different pieces--because my daughter flips her shit if one of them goes missing. I would rather do that deal with a kid that loved noisy, headache inducing toys.
The worst was at Christmas last year--my daughter got TWO of the same exact vtech toy. The alphabet cube. The people that gave it to her no lie thought it was the greatest toy ever. However, by last Christmas my daughter already was able to recognize most of her letters--so it didn't "teach" her anything. It has seriously sat in our basement since then--I think the grand total of use was 3 times.
However, the .99 plastic anemone fish at the aquarium that we got in June she loves and panics if it goes missing.
We've got the v-tech ball that rolls on its own taunting you to push it. When DS was crawling, that was his favorite toy. I eventually just got so used to it, I honestly didn't even hear it anymore. Then one day, some family was visiting us and the ball was doing it's thing and my uncle was like, 'how do you turn that thing off?" I'm so thankful DS doesn't really play with it anymore.

How come it's always MIL who buys these things? My MIL gave us one too. It's in a box in my attic.

FIL and SMIL gave my kids one of those a couple years ago(the one Christmas we actually were speaking to them). Her voice is the most annoying thing in the world. I unlocked it and deleted her voice
I also agree with Legos. DS loves the and I love them as a toy but man they hurt when you step on them
I am not sure of the name but the Fisher-Price puppy that is kind of like Scout. I bought DS it for his first Easter and regret buying it. The stupid thing is in his room and we will be sitting in the living room and all of a sudden it will just go off and say "I love you sooo much" or "Peek-a-boo, I see you", that is the one that creeps me out the most.

Laugh and Learn Puppy - i actually really like him but i know i'm alone in that, from talking to moms and based on the toy shelf at the kids' resale shops.
I thought i liked v-tech based on a toy DS had when he was little, this little farm with a big handle that was easy for him to hold. it made a few animal noises, colors, sang cute songs. but the vtech toys for toddlers are so annoying and don't actually seem educational at all, and people keep giving those! particularly cogsley the robot, the helicopter, a pull along turtle.
I sometimes wonder if toy manufacturers sit in board meetings and try to think of the worst, most horribly obnoxious toy and then ring their hands and evil laugh. Like muhahaha we've got them now! This will make the moms crazy!
I'm convinced this is how children's TV shows are created as well.
