Make up your mind!! (yelling at myself) // Gross taste in mouth

Hi, I'm almost 8w, and the symptoms seems to be slowly getting worse.
I'm telling myself that I'm lucky because I'm not vomiting at all but I'm sure feeling gross all day, on the verge of vomiting, like I'm carsick all the time.
For the past few weeks there were few turn-off foods but I could generally eat.  Recently what I feel up to eating and what I can actually eat is either different, or just changes so quickly that by the time the food is done or arrives I just cannot eat it.
I feel like a brat and I feel so bad for my super understanding husband (who dreams of the day I wake him up at 4am and demand a waffle from the diner), haha.

Also I do feel that I tend to feel more nauseous when I am hungry, but ALSO feel sick when I try to eat.  I can only take a bite, chew like a cow-----let it sit for few minutes, take another bite---- and I can never eat too much in one sitting.  I don't think I ever ate this much unsalted crackers in my life.

In addition to that, I seem to be getting really gross taste in my mouth that adds to the nausea.  Almost...gooey, bitter/sour...
I'm having a dilemma, because mint candy makes this go away for a bit but it gets worse after I finish the candy, and I just don't want to keep on eating candies.
I read some articles that this may be due to zinc deficiency, but my prenatal vitamin has plenty zinc so I am confused.

Nevertheless, its all for the baby and I'm quickly learning that moms do anything and goes through anything for her baby.
But still...has anybody experienced similar things, or found some tricks?
I do wear those Sea-band, and take vitamin B6 (25mg x3).

I'm still working (sometimes at home, thanks to the very understanding bosses) but these unexpected surges of nausea is making it so hard to concentrate. I'm known to be a workaholic that loves her work (I'm an animator--such a fun job), and it kills me how much LESS work I get done.
I really would like to keep on working.  Also I can't even enjoy my favorite hobbies (knitting/spinning/quilting) to put my mind off and I miss it so much!

I'm sorry if any sentence is confusing---English isn't my first language XD
Thank you for comments/advice, in advance.

  • Ok, same thing, kind of was feeling great and then from week 5-6 it was a slow downhill fall. For the Nausea some of the girls recommended peppermint tea, I am using yogi purely peppermint and it has greatly helped, though I am drinking it constantly. Also, and this might be gross, you could have thrush? It's like a yeast infection in your mouth. I wear an appliance at night for TMJ, so its common. And can be common in preggers women. My fav thing is to play tennis and I have gone from 4-5 times a week to maybe two, cause I am so nauseated. I broke down today and called th doc and they didn't hesitate to prescribe me some stuff, I have migraines too. If anything, you are not alone!

  • I have a gross taste in my mouth sometimes, too.  I was just wondering about that today.  I think I'm going to start carrying a toothbrush with me to work to try to get rid of it.

  • I have the weird taste in mouth (I describe it as metallic) and my pregnant friend has it too, so I think it is pretty normal. I haven't heard what causes it, but my prenatal vitamin has plenty of zinc. I will be asking about it at my ultrasound next week, and let you know.

  • I've had the metal mouth taste in my mouth with all my pregnancies. The only way to be rid of it for awhile is eating a raw lemon or orange.

  • I am having all the exact same issues.... It is so gross, and I feel horrible bc I feel like all I do is complain. I can't eat, can't drink even water bc it stinks to me, and have the horrible taste in my mouth....
  • I had the same problem.  I found that chewing gum really helped.  I got sugar free mint flavored gum.  It helped settle my stomach and took away the nasty taste in my mouth.

  • thanks everyone for replying/for your advices!
    Yaay gross taste friends XD

It varies day to day though, and mine seems to be strangely better after I eat some apples or vegetable juice. @_@ so strange.

ardmj80< YESSS! It's so hard to drink water.  I don't know why, but hot water seems to work better sometimes for me.   Not even tea.  Rooibos tea, my favorite till now seem to have a bad aftertaste now.  Just hot water. Which is again strange because I have a hard time eating hot food.  I don't drink enough water as it is, even from pre-pregnant days, so I get a bit nervous.
  • I have an almost constant bad taste in my mouth too. It's really annoying.

  • Yup! Same here almost to a t! Mine started to get really bad just past 6wks and I felt exactly the same way. I couldn't even drink water without feeling like I wanted to throw up and felt motion sick ALL the time! I started taking Zofran at week seven and am still using it at just past 8wks. Besides the constipation it's fantastic! Such a life saver! I still have some food aversions and sometimes still feel nauseous but other than that it feels good to finally be able to eat!
  • I get the bad taste on and off but I totally relate to the food thing. I need what I'm craving Right. Now. and if I don't get it within half an hour, forget it. I won't be able to eat it and I'll feel sicker. I'm hypoglycemic, you may be, too? Sugary drinks have been a lifesaver for me this time around. I need really iced up ice water but can only drink it after I've had some sweet tea or a soda to bring my blood sugar up enough to make the hypoglycemic symptoms quit, and then I can sometimes sneak some food. I did call my doctor's office and I got an early prescription of Zofran (they filled it last week and my 1st appt isn't until tomorrow) and that has helped somewhat.

It sounds so blah but I keep a box of instant mashed potatoes for "I need something NOW" emergencies, and I've had a couple bowls of plain egg noodles. I have Nutrigrain bars on my nightstand so I can eat something before I get up and get moving. It took me my entire pregnancy last time to work out a balance between morning sickness and pregnancy food needs and my hypoglycemia. I feel like I've got a better handle on it this time. Just keep trying what sounds good and make a note when something at whatever time helps you feel better.

  • I noticed it first as just a yukky taste in my mouth and would go brush my teeth. It would help for a bit. Then on our way home from our trip to Canada my hubby got me orange pop since they were out of sprite and it tasted horrible.
