Hiring a nanny

I am looking to hire a nanny to watch my 3 month old at my house. I'm using care.com, I've googled interview questions, will be calling references. What else can/should I be doing to make sure she's a "good person"?

    My friends recommended doing 2 interviews, one without baby and second at your house with baby to see how they interact.

    You could always do a phone interview first, then an in-person interview with the baby.

    We used care.com as well and found the perfect nanny on the first interview! I think we got insanely lucky. I had 27 applicants to watch our twins and I was just very patient and she popped up! It's been great.

    I just went through this process. It sucks!
    I do a phone interview then a in-person interview PLUS check references and do a background check.

    I do love having a nanny in the house as opposed to daycare - comforts of our own home.

    What we did was come up with an application that asked a lot of the questions that we needed answers too.  We were able to narrow the field of applicants significantly based on the responses to the application.  We narrowed it down to three candidates and interviewed each of them and then chose our nanny.  We were very fortunate and were able to find a fabulous nanny using this process.  It isn't an easy process for sure!!
