Bright spot/ echogenic foci

Did anyone have a bright spot show up on their ultrasound during pregnancy? Did you do any follow-up testing after the birth of your baby? I thought they were benign, outside of being an occasional marker for Down syndrome. My baby had one but is very healthy now. I mentioned the spot at a pedi appointment and the dr had no idea what I was talking about or if we needed to do follow-up testing with a specialist. I was under the impression that if it's not linked to a genetic disorder (which his is not) it's just a normal variant and requires no further action. Is this true?

    My baby had the same thing. My dr said it's harmless, it's just a "soft marker" that often correlates with Down syndrome. On its own it means nothing. My boy is 10 months old now and very healthy :)
