Sippy Cup BF

My LO would never take a bottle and I EBF.

My question is, can I give my LO BM in a sippy cup once she is ready?

Did any of your LO have issues taking their milk from another source other than your breast? Or we're they okay as long as they got it? Hoping for some longer stretches of free time to get to go to the gym, etc?

When did you introduce the sippy cup? How long did it take them to "get it?"

TIA

Re: Sippy Cup BF

  • I've looked this up and yes, you can give a BF baby a sippy cup when ready. If the baby is not getting the milk out fast enough, you just take out the valve underneath. My baby cannot take a bottle either and I plan on introducing a sippy cup around 6 months

  • We had the same issue with my son. We introduced the sippy cup at six months. He didn't get the hang of it until 8 or 9 months when I discovered sift straw sippies. My son took to the nuby cup right away. My daughter takes bottles but I will try the nuby cup with her at six months too!
  • I know people usually introduce a sippy if LO is prone to ear infections. A friend's baby went right from boob to sippy because of this at 4 months with support from her pedi.
