I just got a call from the pharmacy and they mentioned HCG as one of the meds that the new RE office ordered for me (1 of 7 meds). I"m confused. I thought that for FET you only need to take progesterone and estradiol (and on occasion, leupron). Are they prepping me for a failed FET? Is that what's going on?
Re: Confused, why HCG for FET?
I can't imagine you'd need an HCG shot for an FET. I'd call your RE to confirm.
After 27 months, 5 IUI's, 3 m/c's, 2 IVF's, 2 FET's (and a partridge in a pear tree) we finally had our baby boy. Our first son was born on Jan. 1, 2009.
Did another round of IVF and our girl/boy twins were born May 12, 2011
but you don't ovulate in an FET cycle...
this makes sense. perhaps OP's RE is doing this as part of the FET protocol?
Yup, I'm sure it is part of his protocol, as it is part of my REs protocol also but I know not 100% of the REs at the practice use it b/c the protocol forms they send to everyone do not have it on there.
I was only able to find one thing about it in a brief google search, apparently a clinical trial ended earlier this year but I can't find the results yet. https://www.druglib.com/trial/29/NCT00398229.html
Thanks guys.
The link was very helpful
Um, I ovulated in both of my FET cycles.

Sorry, didn't know you did natural FET cycle. Mine have always been medicated so they have always prevented me from ovulating. I shouldn't have assumed.
