July 2012 Moms

Vent (long, sorry)

Today sucked, big time.  My mom said she'd watch Em while I went to the doctor.  I got up this morning and tried to do my hair with baby girl hanging on my leg and fussing.  Finally I just gave her a thing of puffs and a thing of dixie cups to play with...which wasn't the best plan since they both ended up all over the floor.  Mom chose that moment to get here to pick me up and needed to hurry back to work, so I had to leave the mess.

My appointment was at 12:30, so I put Em down for a nap at Mom's hoping she'd sleep while I was gone and Mom wouldn't have to be too distracted while trying to work from home.  I got to the waiting room at my OB's office and out of no where started having palpitations and a hard time breathing.  I was alone in the waiting room, so I went through the door to where the rooms are.  As luck would have it, my NP's nurse was coming down the hall, so I told her I was having a hard time and asked to lay down.  With my heart history, I wasn't really concerned, I just didn't want to end up passed out on the floor.  The nurses and doctors, however, freaked the F out.  They sent me down to the ER.

The ER did that blood test to check for the likelihood of blood clots, which came back elevated, so they made me do a CT scan.  It came back normal (YAY!).  Meanwhile, my other tests came back with what I was told was a "whopper" of a UTI.  I was never tested for a yeast infection, so I'm not sure what the heck is making my lady bits try to explode, but the swelling at least has gone down thanks to the ice packs.  I got a scrip for macrobid and for labetelol (the second is to help control my heart rate), but haven't filled either, thinking I'd go get it when DH got off at 6 tonight.

I got back to Mom's right at 6, where I find out that Em is running a fever and not a happy camper.  I'm not sure what's going on with her.  I gave her some Advil to try to make her more comfortable, but her temp is still a little high.

DH was supposed to come get me at 6:30 because Mom needed me to leave her car there, but he never showed.  I tried to call and text with no answer.  Finally he called me at 7:45, saying he has to work til 9 because the dealership didn't make its numbers last month.  He also says that he doesn't get his day off tomorrow, and from now until the foreseeable future he will need to be in from "bell to bell" every.  single.  day.  That's 8:30 AM until 9 PM Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 7 on Saturdays, and 11:30 until 5 on Sundays.  This means that with the exception of Sundays, he won't be around to see Emily at all and I will be on my own.

Mom had to let me bring the car home after she'd already done so much for me today.  I feel terrible for hijacking her entire day.  I still need the meds, so I'll have to do that tomorrow.  I am incredibly upset about DH's work situation.  I'm worried about baby boy because of the CT scan. I feel sick and lonely, and I just want to cry.  I need to go do dishes and clean up the horrendous mess of cups and puffs, but I think I might sit on the couch with some ice cream and watch something on Netflix.

OK, deep breaths.  Thanks for letting me vent.  I swear I'll be better company tomorrow.

  • What a horrible, rotten, no good day. That's got to be such a weight on your shoulders to not be getting much help from your H in the near future because work is trying to steal his soul. I'm so sorry and I hope tomorrow is a better day!

  • You poor thing! That sounds like a terrible day :( I can't imagine getting that news about your husbands job after a day like that. It's bad enough on a good day. I'll be thinking of you and hoping you and Em start to feel better ASAP.

I mentioned this to DH.  He also doesn't get overtime, so the whole thing just seems shifty to me.  I'm going to go through his handbook tomorrow while he's working.  Maybe I'll check labor laws too.

He says I just need to tell all of you to come buy new Nissans, preferably from him, so that they will let the employees work normal hours again.  ;)

You know - my Dad is looking at buying a new Nissan... somehow I don't think he's going to look that far though.

I hope today goes much better for you.  *hug*

  • Thanks ladies. I didn't expect such an amazing response...you don't know how much better you've made me feel.

Em is still sick. I'm heading up to the drugstore soon to restock in meds for her and to get mine. Hopefully we will both feel better soon.
