Success after IF

SAIF - We need some updates on our peeps!

So I as I lay here nursing J, I'm thinking of my SAIF peep and wondering about updates to some past posts. Rather than calling you each out, let's do a roll up of updates. Feel free to add your questions and update requests!

TJ - how is your wrist? Is E still in the magic sleep suit?

CWhitaker- how are DS' stitches?

Robeano - how goes the EBF? Any further need for formula? Is H eating solids yet?

Ducky - are your parents following through on the picking up of S from daycare?

Nikki - is your life 100% better with your MIL gone? Is her coming for extended periods going to be a reoccurring thing?

Chi - how is your foot?

Oceans - how is your hubby now that he has been on the meds for a little bit?

Kaf - what is the status on your home sale?

I know there are more...that is my first pass...anyone feel free to chime in.

You don't have to be called out to update us!

Yay! This makes me so happy! J is digging BLW, but is still very much a boob-a-holic.

  • Haha! Yes, I replaced Sophie on Friday! Thank god for store credit to soften the blow.

And in other news - LO had her first sleepover this weekend! DH and I had bachelor/bachelorette parties Sat night so MIL took her. Well MIL lives with her 96 year old mom- so she couldn't leve her at night. Either one of us stayed sober and picked her up late night, or she stayed over. I was a nervous wreck but feel a million times better now that its done. We have an out of state wedding weekend in a month for the same couple, so it was a good trial run. Although I did not get a straight answer on how she slept, she was happy and in a good mood all day yesterday, so I'm chalking this one up as a major win.
Even though I cried when dropping her off, it was lovely to have an adult night out for both DH and I!

Aww, thanks for checking up on me. I'm so glad to hear everyone has positive updates so far!
The wrist is healing well. It's just such a slow process. I'm doing stretching exercises every hour that I'm awake, and still can't pick up anything heavier than an empty coffee cup. So it's very frustrating. On the other hand, I'm getting really good at doing things one handed. MH has been on 100% diaper duty for 5 weeks now. I think once I'm healed I'll have to change all her dipes till she's PT! I'm so lucky to have such a great husband who is picking up all my slack with a smile on his face, and encourages me every time I get frustrated.
And what about you MrsAmy? Work still crazy?

ETA:  Missed the second question.  Yes, she's still in the magic suit.  I think she will be till she goes to college.  Haha!  But hey, whatever works.  She loves that darn suit.  If we have it lying out where she can get to it, she hugs and kisses it.  Too cute.

  • So thoughtful of you to think of everyone! I'm glad your trip with J went better than expected. When we travel with G in November (she will be almost 7 months) I'll be hitting you up for tips!

G is sleeping ... sort of.

She's not back to her 6am-6pm routine, but has been either going down at 7pm and waking up just once during the night OR crying until 10pm and STTN, so that's good! Much better than waking up 2-3x at night like last week. This 4 month wakeful is no joke. I thought we would avoid it since she loves her sleep so much, but that's not the case. Thanks for checking in on us!

Yes! My parents stepped up their game and have been picking Sophie up from DC for a month now. It has been so helpful for me. LO has been doing ok with it, though she is still adjusting to being with others. Sometimes I come home and she's screaming...but I know this will pass.

It's funny that you say that - I have had some HUGE issues with my MIL. I've never been able to stand the women quite frankly, but my own mom can not handle small babies and gets way too nervous (plus hel! would freeze over before she'd ever agree to a sleepover, which really bugs me because we always slept at her moms house growing up and always LOVED IT!)..... At least my MIL is willing to take it on. And as odd as it seems to me - LO is always happy after she's with her, so I just take her for what she is and be happy she's willing to help!

and PS - I applaud your approach with going with what works. In my 4 months of parenting I've had a huge wakeup call that doing things textbook style does not mean they will work..... It's all about survival mode - I wish someone warned me of that!

yes, but after this week it slows way down. I'm excited to get my baby back, but I will miss the money that comes with busy season. I'm so incredibly thankful that my parents were able to watch J this summer. I don't know that I could have made it through without them.

Now if I can just get J comfortable with the gym daycare I can get my butt back in shape and play a ton of tennis (yay!!!).

As for Miss J, she is sitting up, getting ready to crawl. Loves BLW. She is obsessed with our pooch. About a month ago we transitioned from need to want. If I take something she wants (paper, something yucky, the dog's ear), she cries. Her attention span is also dropping.

The cutest thing she does is examine her hands and wiggles her fingers.  I can see the gears moving as she goes, "wow, look at these thing are awesome! And here I thought these stumps at the end of my arms were useless blobs. Good thing I wasn't successful at crewing them off!"

Hugs to all and glad all is going well for my peeps!

  • MrsAmyDylan, so sweet of you to be thinking of all of us!  Life's been busy lately so I'm not on SAIF as much.  M's separation anxiety is better - he still has his moments but not as bad as it was a couple of weeks ago.  It's been a crazy couple of weeks - M cut his 5th tooth ("DOH" moment when I finally realized why he has been screaming at bedtime), my parents came for a visit (first time my dad met M), and M is now pulling up/standing/cruising!  The last one certainly is keeping me MUCH busier than before.

Glad to see everyone's updates and hope you all have a good week!

No kidding!  It just BAM! happened one day - actually while my parents were here, so that was exciting for them too.  I told everyone that my "vacation" is over now that M is up!  I can no longer let him by himself for any period of time, cuz he's always pulling up and... falling.  We haven't proofed our furniture corners so I'm always worried that he'll knock his tooth off when he falls.

BTW, how to I "tag" someone???

Too cute.

That is adorable!!! (The magic suit love I mean) Also, awesome post MrsAD Had the inspection today. I forget if I mentioned that we got an offer about a week ago that allows us to stay in our house until my end of training date so I a really hoping the inspection was good enough and they take it. In other news I am still finding not bf hard. LO had his first formula bottle today and hasn't seemed to care yet. I am getting a cold, which is no fun but I am hoping he doesn't get it. Thanks to everyone for the updates!
  • Some great updates ladies!

I took DS's stitches out successfully yesterday. No screaming or crying which I was happy about. He definitely still has a gouge in the middle of his forehead but it looks pretty darn good. I need to do some research to find something to put on it to reduce scarring. TJ suggested scar gel which I haven't checked out yet. Anyone else have any suggestions that you know is ok to use on toddlers?

    Loving this post btw!

I am loving being a SAHM! Some days do get long, but I try to plan at least one thing to get me out of the house. We go out for walks with the 3 dogs, visit our neighbors, visit a friend; something to get fresh air! I wish I could get more done when A naps, but if she falls asleep nursing and I try to lay her down for a nap, she is usually up in 10 minutes. So, I usually let her nap in my lap and I watch a movie, read, or bump. She sleeps great at night so I do dishes and laundry and pick up the house after she goes down, between 8:30 and 9:30. DH works the evening shift, so he spends lots of time with her in the morning and I get to shower in peace :)

@TJ1979 I love that E kisses her sleep suit! Omgawd! I hope you have a picture of that!

@NikkiA921 you are amazing for dealing with your IL's for that long! Where are your IL's from?
