Toddlers: 24 Months+

I am about to write Disney! Arhhhgggg!

Okay so why are there no Mickey Mouse or Monsters Inc underwear for girls (2T) !? Sure there is Minnie but that is not Mickey, my daughter isn't stupid.

Yes I am making a bigger deal out of this then I need to but I am upset and how sexist that is.
Plus I was really excited to use the method of telling my DD to not get "Mickey" or who ever messy because you go potty in the toilet.

Well all my daughters favorite characters aren't made for girls, apparently, like Mickey, Sully... Of course I'm going to try some of the other characters but I know what motivates her and its not mini mouse.

Bubble guppies would do the trick too but apparently Nick Jr. Doesn't make those ether. :(

Okay rant over sorry...

DH told me to just buy some guy underwear but Im not sure how comfy she would be because I don't know how they are cut differently.

  • We use the boy undies. We let her pick them out and she picked the Monster's Inc. ones and Jack and the Neverland Pirates. They fit her fine (at least she doesn't complain). But I totally understand the frustration.

  • Probably the same reason why I can't find Dora or Minnie undies in boys cuts.

It sucks, but honestly, character stuff is pretty sexist all the way around- not just Disney.  Pixar, Nick Jr, PBS etc all have their "boy" stuff and their "girl" stuff.

Is it not fair and okay.  But it kind of is what it is.   I'm not a big fan of character stuff in general, and LO has very little of it.  Mostly Lightning McQueen.  As for underwear, I took him to store, showed him the boy ones and let him pick.   He had options and got to be in control of the choices, even if they they were more "boyish".

Why not take her to the store, and show here the ones they do have and just let her pick?  I'm sure she will find something she likes.

  • I'm glad I'm not the only ones frustrated. I plan to let her pick some out. If your DD wears boy underwear okay then maybe I will pick up a pack to two though. Thank you.

  • I let my DD wear the boys. She Likes the Sesame Street ones and I figured it was not a big deal, she doesn't seem uncomfortable wearing them.
  • We have tons of "boy underwear" for our girls. They wanted dinosaurs so they got dinosaurs.
"Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies. God damn it, you've got to be kind." - Kurt Vonnegut
  • My dd picked out & wore Thomas the train undies for the first 6 months at least. I didn't care what they looked like as long as she was going on the potty;)
  • This is one of my biggest pet peeves!  I bought DD the "Cars" pull-ups and they did not use then at daycare because I was told them are cut differently.  Does anyone know if this is true?  It super annoying.  I feel the same way about the Fisher Price little people.  Bring back the generic looking people!

  • They may have wall-e boy undies at Walmart. They had a pack with sully, cars, and a bunch of other Disney Pixar characters.

And I don't think they are cut differently, not the pull ups at least!

We ended up just getting her a generic pack and a pack of Minnie underwear because the Mickey boy ones only had a 3 pack for $6... To much of a rip off for her to be having accidents in them. I'll have her go pick out her favorite characters, rip off or not, as a present once she is potty trained.

I really may write someone... Not that it will do much good... But I want my daughter to love princess and monsters and be able to show that off if she wants too.

  • We've used both the boys undies and the boys' pull-ups. :) My girls prefer Cars and Monsters Inc. to princesses!

No issues with leaks on the latter, if they're cut differently it's not *that* much of a difference.

  • We had the same issue.

Reese loves: Nemo, The Incredibles and Monsters Inc. She also loves Thomas.

We settled for a pack of Minnie and Thomas--due to sizes of the other ones.

  • Wonderful to see some parents don't care, either!  My son was asking for My Little Pony underwear yesterday.  I ended up just getting him a My Little Pony figure because we have roughly a million pairs of undies from when we were training.
    Anyway, I AGREE!

  • I know they aren't panties, but they do have Monsters Inc in the girls pullups. DD wears pullups at night and the Monsters Inc are always the first ones she chooses.

  • The boy undies look more comfy than the girl ones to me! I let dd pick and she's picked girlie ones so far, but i'd totally let her wear the boy ones. I have underwear of my own from then mens section and they are waaaay more comfy than womens undies imho.

But yeah I don't see why they can't use "boys" characters against a girlie cutesy colored background if they wanted to... or just make some gender neautral undies... ugh it drives me nuts.
