Hello to all "AMA's". Advanced maternal age I'm new here. Just barely pregnant and starting this journey. So far just sore boobies, cramping and major fatigue with a bit of nausea here and there. Is constantly being irritated with your husband a symptom? Haha. Did anyone else go more than 5 years between pregnancies? This is my second. I have a 7 yr old and am very curious how my body is going to handle pregnancy nearly 8 years later!
Hope everyone is enjoying their pregnant summer!!
Re: Years between pregnancies??
congrats and welcome!
I would agree that constant irritation is a symptom. I'm typically a laid-back person but I've had the worst mood swings already. My previous pregnancies I couldn't keep anything down at this stage, but I've only had mild nausea so far. However, I am having to take progesterone supplements because my levels were low at my labwork 2 weeks ago so that may be the reason thus far. I'm afraid the barf monster is around the corner, though..
I had 8 years between my first two and it was a big difference in fatigue and aches/pains. He is the best big brother and they are so co-dependent now. It was a little strange the first year because I felt like I had two kids that were an Only Child, if you will. He was in extra curricular activities like scouting and choir, as well as I drove him to and from school. All of those things were a challenge to manage while a little sleep deprived with a BF'ing baby in tow, but we survived. The only thing I'd change how I went about things, is that I wish I'd been able to know how to plan meals ahead and efficiently use a crock pot. It would have made some things a little less stressful.
In another post I was curious to see how moms continue to function with other kids while suffering from morning sickness. How did you do it? I'm so afraid everything is going to fall apart work home house family time if I get super sick. Did it work out ok for you? What will you do this pregnancy if the "barf monster" returns?
I'm 40. It's been 2 years since I was pregnant with DS. I think I was pretty tired then and now there's a toddler in the mix soooo....
So age and toddlerhood conspire!

With all the new non-invasive screening methods out there, I am thinking that this is a good time to be AMA now.

All that being said it was worth it and I am planning one last baby before we are done. I found it easier to have kids closer together than having a huge age gap but there's nothing I can do about that and it's amazing to see my teenagers interact with their baby sister.
A 14.5 and 17.5 year age gap is a lot but it still works. I had to respond even though I am no longer pregnant.
My first two children are 18 months apart. Ava is 6 and Carl is 4.5
So far my symptoms are fatigue and dizziness. And feeling HANGRY all the time. Hoping to not gain 70#s this time!

I'm 37 and due with baby #2 in November. Our DS will be 3 in two weeks so a 3 year age difference for us.
