Monday Accountablity Check-in

Good Morning,

It's Monday again, but a new day, let's make it bright.

So my weekend started off well and ended semi-ok.  So Saturday my mother had lo so hubs and I went to the gym, and then walked around the mall and ate at P.F. Chang.  I was going to get Mongolian beef, but thought better of it and got brown rice and Moo Goo Gai Pan (stir fri chicken w/Shimp and vegs) Yesterday I spent the day w/my parents and the baby we went out to brkfst, but since it was a buffet I didn't eat much, we then walked around BJ's for a little while, and bbqed when we got back.  I had grilled chicken, vegs and a little potato salad.  I've only had an 100 calorie Fiber one english muffin this morning, not sure if I'm going to eat something else.  I'm a bit lazy to leave the office and go and find brkfst.

I do W.Watchers and since I can't seem to make my Wed meeting and I can't seem to follow the plan on the weekend, I decided that I'm going to switch my weight in day to Mondays and see if the change helps shift things up for me.  I'm also thinking of changing my plan to Online only.

So how was your weekend, food, activity?  Have you decided to make any changes?

Re: Monday Accountablity Check-in

  • I don't think I did terribly this weekend, but I didn't track so I don't know for certain. We spend a good deal of time in the car on Sat looking for a car for DH, and quite a bit of time playing with DD while the men did the negotiation (I hate doing it so I left it up to DH and FIL) so I got some "exercise" and then yesterday we did quite a bit of walking while shopping. I still haven't made it to the gym but I'll set the same goal this week to go at least twice and hopefully I'll make it- that 5K is getting closer and closer and I have got to get training.

  • @kerbear, that's part of my problem, I don't track on the weekend and my meals aren't planned, so it's eat on the go or eating "whenever".  I was suppose to go to the gym today but I forgot to put my gym clothes together.  I'm really not kidding, it's not an excuse.
  • @j3nnyb, is it the sugar in the soda, would you be ok if you drank diet?  Or maybe buying a case of flavored water or carbonated flavored water?  My mother buys us a case of Fruit 2o whenever she goes to Bj's Wholesale.
  • I weighed myself yesterday and was down 1.2lbs. I had a huge brownie with ice cream last night. I have no guilt. I've been trying to use DD as a weight for exercise. She thinks it's hilarious.

I didn't do well this weekend.  Part of my problem is my soda addiction.  I'm trying to cut it out of my diet but it's not easy.  I had a can of mt. dew throwback on friday and then yesterday I had a large birch beer.  I didn't track my meals this weekend or do any exercise.  No meals were planned so we ate out a lot.  I weighed myself this morning and I gained 1.6lbs over the weekend, so I have a net loss of .2lbs this past week.  Ugh.
I struggle with soda too, even though I drink diet. They say diet isn't any better- it makes it where your body needs more and more sweet to satisfy it or something- but I just can't quit it.

  • I kind of fell off the wagon this weekend but I am going to try to do better this week. DD seems to be able to tolerate dairy now (so far at least,YAY!) so I ended up caving and having italian for dinner yesterday and a piece of tiramisu because I have been wanting it for the past 5 months. I believe in still eating the things I want but as well as making better choices. I should've tracked it but I didn't this weekend. I don't think it would've been as bad if I just had pasta or dessert but it is what it is. However, I managed to workout a 30 minute elliptical session on saturday so I am glad I got a workout in on the weekend.

  • @j3nnyb, how about mixing low sodium carbonated water w/fruit juice.  That might give you carbonation and sweet and salty, and no artificial sweeteners.
  • Horrible weekend for food & exercise!
McDonalds for dinner on our way to Bozeman, Montana (8 1/2 hours in the car Thursday night after work). 2 1/2 hours of sleep later, Killian was awake & ready to go.
Did go for a short hike Friday morning but snacked all day, fried chicken, potato salad and butter biscuits (several helpings) plus wedding dessert yummies Friday night & all day Saturday when we all just sat around the lake & ate left-overs.
Sunday was Starbucks for breakfast, 2 hour 2 mile "hike" through Lewis & Clark Caverns on the way home, with stops for Pizza Hut (lunch) and Dairy Queen (dinner) before finally getting home a little after 8p. Up early this morning with a stop at the coffee-shop and Taco Bell for lunch.

  • @kescalera, most people bar hop, when hubby and I are on vacation we restaurant hop.  You were on vacation, in the car A LOT of the time w/a lo, fast food is inevitable.  You acknowledge, you correct and you move on.     :)
  • @barbar78 If you interested, you can buy frozen brown rice at Trader Joes, it's two cups.  You throw it in the micro for 3mins and done.  They also have frozen steel cut oatmeal, 3mins in micro and done. The downside to the oatmeal it's only 2 in a box and it's a bit expensive, but it's a good quick brkfst if your feeling lazy.  Which reminds me I need to hit up Traders.
  • @barbar78, Hate beans and I married into a Portuguese family, hahahaaa

@Babar78 - Birdseye has steamfresh packs for brown rice and white rice too.  I picked some up this week at Harris Teeter on sale 5/$5.  Not sure if you have a HT near you but I'm pretty sure Birdseye is carried at other nationwide chain grocery stores.
@barbar78 Prncebride smacks her forehead and said "I should have had a V8"
  • Just a FYI- For anyone that walks a lot or as a workout, fitbit tracks your steps and you can sync it automatically to myfitness pal app so it will update your calorie intake/information. I wear it on my bra strap and like it more than other pedometers but only bad part is it doesn't work on the elliptical so I have to use a polar heart rate monitor for that.

I bought my fitbit when groupon had a special for brookstone (they do every now and then) so it ended up being $25 instead of $50.
