Your Pre-kid Nice Things, Ruined

In our past life, pre-kids, we had a lot of disposable income. We bought things like high end leather Norwegian stressless chairs, with matching leather ottomans. I left an ink pen out for Kate to find and she scribbled all over the ottoman. I have googled how to remove ink from leather, but it's not coming out. The leather is soft enough that it's scratched in. I totally blame myself, but I really wish she would have picked the wall to draw on, because at least I could have just painted over it. I'm sure this is just the beginning of her path of destruction.

    Ouch... I have no idea how to take ink out of leather but I hope you find a solution. That really stinks. When we just bought the house everyone told us to buy nice furniture that will last us forever and I thought are you kidding me? We bought rooms to go microfiber couches and went with a distressed rustic feel for everything else so at least the dings and knics will look like part of it. Lol In a time where we have no children we will get nice stuff.

    i moved the antique curio (sp?) cabinet to the back office this past week.  it has curved rather than flat glass that would be way pricey to replace, and being an antique it isn't always the most sturdy piece of furniture in our house.

    DH has already made the rule that all writing implements be kept out of reach, or only be used under supervision for this exact reason.  i'm thinking of doing that Crayola "magic" paper stuff for starters and see how it works.

    That sucks! Luckily, we don't really buy stuff. We're like the opposite of hoarders in that we have like a fear of too much stuff. It's proving to be a useful tactic with a baby.

    Take it to a nice leather store! My mom used to bring purses into leather stores and sometimes people could help. Soap and water works on ink, very diluted soap. Good luck!!

    Ha, yep, us too.  Well, I guess our nice stuff is hand-me-downs, really, supplemented with IKEA stuff.  We're trying to get better though about spending the money on quality things whenever we buy something now.
