Hair Woes

If you color your hair, do you get one color all over?  Highlights?  Salon, or a DIY box from the drugstore?

I've finally reached the point where I have more gray hairs coming in than I can stand.  I really don't think it is very noticeable to the average onlooker, but if you really check out my hair, they are there.  ::sigh:: I think it's time to break down and start coloring it.  Which sucks because my hair is SUPER long and it's going to cost an arm and a leg if I go to a salon. 

Oh, and salons make me really nervous.  Is that weird?  I just can't relax when I get my hair done, I usually just get my sister to give me a quick trim.

    I'm in the same boat. I have no advice, just frizzy hair that needs to be cut and colored. GL

    I don't color my hair because I'm too lazy (don't have time) to keep up with it. I'm also in denial over having any gray hairs - my hair is dirty blonde/light brown, so it's good camoflauge.

    I personally wouldn't spend the money on a salon since to me it's no different than doing it(dye) at home. Haircut, I go to salon.

    On that note, I haven't dyed my hair for probably close to 10 years.

    Ditto this. I have been thinking of getting highlights soon and am also dreading the salon. Mostly because of the price though.

    My hair used to be a light brown, but it has gotten progressively darker over time, seemingly with each pregnancy.  It went from a dark blonde/light brown to a really dark brown in just the past couple years.  So it's honestly hard for me to tell if the gray is coming in more, or if it's just more noticeable with the color change to dark hair.

    DH wants me to go lighter - blonde - and there's just no way I could keep up with that.
