Swing naps?

Are your babies still napping in the swing? Mine still almost always naps in the swing. She sleeps really well in her crib at night but is not into it during the day. Should I be trying to transition her now? She just sleeps so much better in the swing for naps. Clearly I don't want a 14 year old trying to nap in swings though :)

Re: Swing naps?

  • DS has never been a huge fan of the swing, but we used to let him nap all over the place (on his belly on his play mat, in my arms, occasionally in the swing) and within the past two weeks have transitioned him completely to napping in his crib all the time. It's nice because I can get more done and don't have to creep around him, but sometimes his naps are really short and that can get frustrating. Sorry I don't have much advice.   You'll have to transition at some point or another though.

  • Mine still tames at least one nap a day in swing. I try to put her other places to nap but she will only sleep a little while. In the swing she sleeps so much better.
  • We do like one nap in the swing a day minimum... sometimes two.

  • My LO always napped in the swing. We just decided we were nixing the swing from any and all sleeping about 2 weeks ago. We went cold turkey and had a rough 2 days but his sleeping is all around better now.

  • DS naps awesome in his swing - usually 30-90 minutes. In his crib, we can only get about 20 minutes and putting him down is tough. I figure the sleep is more important than the place, so I don't worry about swing naps. He usually does at least one/day in the swing and then a few mini-naps in his crib.
  • Clara still naps in the swing. She's only taken a handful of naps in the crib, and it's only if she's fallen asleep in my arms. The swing helps her fall asleep when she's cranky. DH goes back to work in 2 weeks, so maybe we'll start to transition her while he's still home so I don't lose my mind if she isn't napping!

  • Good luck to you momma! We are on day 2 with no naps in the swing. Yesterday was pretty terrible but today is going ok so far!

  • Our LO stills naps in the swing when at home, he won't fall asleep on me anymore and is takes forever to rock him to sleep during the day.  He hasl a 2-3 hour nap in the morning in the swing.  In 2 weeks we're going to stay with my Mom for 3 weeks and she doesn't have a swing so I guess we're going cold turkey then so for now I'm going to enjoy the long naps.

  • He always wakes up if I try putting him down during the day. So it's hold him or swing

  • Welcome to my nightmare. LO takes his first nap in the swing and sleeps for 3-4 hours. Today it was five. He sucks at napping in his crib, even though he sleeps great at night. When he outgrows this thing I might cry. For now I'm just enjoying the free time!

  • My little guy LOVES his swing! He slept it in every night up until last night where we are transitioning him to his crib. He's the happiest little guy in it and as long as he's happy, we are happy :)
  • Both kids nap in their swing. We're working on crib transitioning, so I need them to be able to sleep well during the day since nighttime has sucked so far.

We had given up on it for about a month b/c he just got pissed when we put him in it. Recently employing it again for naps b/c he's going through a super fussy phase and it turns out it's the only thing that will sooth him into taking a nap right now.
