Rice Cereal Mommas - late onset reaction?

DS started on rice cereal. Went really well - he loved it and ate 1-2 tablespoons a day for 7 days. The next week, we started sweet potato but did not keep the rice cereal in the mix. Last Thursday, we added rice cereal back in and the day care center called stating that DS threw up and needed to go home. He had no other symptoms. Friday and Saturday, everything as normal, but no rice cereal. Sunday we gave him rice cereal again and 2 hours later her threw up. My gut tells me this is an adverse reaction to the cereal, but I've got in a call to the pediatrician just to make sure. While I am waiting, I thought I would ask other moms if they have experienced something similar.

Just to clarify - no other symptoms, no fever, no other babies at day care vomiting, etc. The only variable I can find is the rice cereal.

By the way, does dry rice cereal go bad?

Thoughts or advice welcome!

I believe rice cereal and oatmeal go bad a month after you open it. Maybe it's too filling and your little one is vomiting bc of that. My little one vomits several times a day so I'm no help
