Hi everyone! this is my first time posting on this board.
DS had blood in his stool at 8 weeks, so I cut out dairy and soy. I was already gluten free because of my own intolerance. We started solid purées when DS turned 6 months, up until which we avoided the blood in the stool due to my careful diet. Once we started solids two weeks ago (just avocado & sweet potato) I've seen blood now 4 times!
I'm putting in a call to the pedi again this morning, and will follow their directions, but I was wondering if you all have encountered similar reactions? Could it be possible that DS is sensitive to solids or something else that I've been eating? I've been consuming more chocolate lately.
Also, if you struggled with this issue, was your child referred to a specialist? What did that entail?
Thanks for your help!
Re: Blood in stool - already dairy, soy & gluten free
As soon as the pedi found blood in DS's stool (it was occult) we were sent to a pediatric GI doctor. We've been under the care of both since DS was a few months old.
