Working on L/O's 1st Birthday?

I am thinking of taking a personal day on my sons first birthday. I was wondering if anyone else was doing the same.

I have vacation days coming out the rear... I am taking off her birthday and the following day. She will actually only go to the dr for her birthday, her party won't be until that weekend.

Taking the whole day off. They tried to schedule me for a meeting and I said HECK no. She only turns one, well, once.

I'm a SAHM but yes, when I was working (and hubby who works full time) take a day off on each kids' birthday.

I will not be using a precious personal day. She won't even know its her birthday. We'll be celebrating the weekend before.

I was talking to DH and a thought crossed my mind... its kinda my day too. Its the anniversary of the day I became a mom...and I would want to spend the day with my L/O.

And that's great. Not all of us are fortunate enough to be able to take time off like that. Id love to be able to spend the day with my DD as well, its just not possible.

I can't vote because I'm a SS. I'm speshul for a couple reasons. 1.) I'm a SAHM 2.) My children's birthday was almost 2 weeks ago. :-S

PS -- Always put SS as an option on a poll. There is ALWAYS at least one.

That's our plan too! I work in a school and usually it's the first day of the school, so I'd be unable to take off. Luckily school starts earlier this year, so I can!

I'll only have been back to work for a month (I'm a teacher) so I really don't want to take a personal day. I feel bad about it but I will make a point to leave as soon as my students do so I can spend the afternoon with her.

SS- SAHM. And H is not taking off. I don't think he would even if I aske. But it's not really justifiable money wise.

SS- his birthday is on a weekend. We do typically celebrate on their actual birthday, although we are always off for Keagan's birthday because it is a holiday.

L's bday is the Tuesday after Labor Day. Since I will already be home for a long weekend, I will not be staying home with her.

I put that I would be working normal hours... and then realized his birthday is on Sunday.

No work for me but I think DH is working a half day.

I'm a sahm, but DH will probably take his bday off because his bday falls on a Friday and his party is on Saturday. So this way he can corral the kids/take them somewhere while I clean and get ready for the party. He didn't take a day off for DD's 1st or 2nd though. She didn't know the difference, and her parties were on the weekend, with her actual birthday in the middle of the week.

Oh, and he has about a week of vacation time to burn. Last year (for DD's 1st) he didn't because he was saving his vacation time for DS's birth.

His birthday is on a weekend. I usually work a little each day, but I won't do work on his birthday since we will be so busy with other things.

SS - her birthday falls on a Sunday this year.

I was thinking of taking the following week off, not because of her birthday but just because I have extra PTO and it seemed like a nice time to hang out with her/work on weaning off the daytime feedings.

I needed an SS option! Sawyer's birthday is on a Sunday so I won't be working. But I probably wouldn't have taken a day off if it was a weekday. I get off at 4 so we would have had time to celebrate.

Her birthday is the Sunday before Labor Day so I guess I'm lucky in that I'm already off this year for it. Her party will be on her actual birthday.

She has no concept of a birthday; when she is a little older I will take the day off however and do something fun with her.

This. DH is also working a 24 hour shift, so he'll only see him in the morning before he goes to work at 7 too.

im taking the day off and so is dh. sophie's bday party is on the weekend and her actual bday is the monday. she will go to the doc on the monday for her shots (mean mommy, i know) and we'll spend some time as a family celebrating surviving 365 days!

Charlotte's Birthday was last Monday and I took the whole day to be with her and my husband who has Mondays off normally.

DH is for sure taking the day off, and I was planning to, but I just used all of my vacation and sick time being sick for a week straight, so I don't know if I will have a whole day by then. Her birthday party is the next day so that is part of it and I think it would be nice to just be a family on her first birthday. I don't think there is anything wrong with not taking off, but if I can, I think I will just to relax and enjoy my LO!
