Car Accicent

I was in a car accident this afternoon and it scared the bejeebers out of me.  Thank God DD was home with DH so it was just me.  I came to a screeching stop  because the crazy person in front of me decided to sit at a green light instead of going and when they did start moving they prompting hit the breaks again.  I still don't know why.  However, looking in my rearview mirror and the guy behind me really thought we were going somewhere and he had no time to stop.  50mph highway and he landed in my trunk.  Thankfully our air bags didn't deploy and we were both ok and he was really nice about it.  Top it off with me giving the police officer the wrong insurance card so now I get to go to court and explain that I actually do have insurance and hope they drop the citation.  I get to spend tomorrow calling insurance companies, getting an estimate on the damage and I plan on checking in my with doctor although I think the little squirt is ok, nothing has felt off all afternoon.  Absolutely terrifying.  And we leave on Tuesday for vacation, then I go back to work.  This is not exactly what I had planned for tomorrow.
Hallelujah, it's a miracle, I have children AND a signature!

  • How scary! Glad you are okay. Make sure you get your insurance to replace your carseats too.

Good call, I hadn't even thought of that.  I hate the carseat in that car anyway.  How does it work?
Just tell them I had a carseat in the car?

Let me know if there's anything I can do!

I've had to replace two carseats because I'm a magnet for bad drivers. Both times I bought the carseats and then the insurance company at-fault reimbursed me. I had to bring the old seats into a local office so they could cut the straps.
they fought it at first, but I just talked to a supervisor, told her the pedi said to replace it and they did it.

I currently have an extra convertible if you need to borrow one for vacation. (As long as you wouldn't be checking it, that freaks me out)

We aren't taking a seat with us on vacation since we are walking and bussing everywhere thankfully! I will talk to the agent about it tomorrow. I didn't mention it to my agent tonight, but I'm hoping all the claims go through the other party because he clearly hit me. Do you think I should call the pedi in the morning? I need to take the car in tomorrow, but I am hesitant to remove the seat from the car in case they want to see that it was there.

  • I'm sorry!! Eek! I also have a newer marathon you could have :) Glad you and mini dizzy are ok!
  • Gah! Terrifying! A few months ago I witnessed a pretty bad accident right in front of me in an intersection - the mini van directly in front of me was totally smashed in the side by an old lady who had temporarily lost control of her leg  /:)
I could see car seats in the back of the van, and jumped out of my car and ran frantically to the van, looked in the window, and thankthegoodlord, the car seats were empty. One of them of tipped completely sideways, though, because the side of the van was crumpled in. Both parties were mostly fine, but the mom in the van was crying because she had almost brought her kids with her on that outing, and was so thankful they were fine.
I just went home and hugged DD really tight. It stayed with me for a few weeks...

  • Car accidents are the worst.

I was in a fender bender while pregnant.  I was about 5 months and went to the doctor.  Everything was alright (they're protected in there!) but it definitely helped me calm down to hear her heartbeat.

    Glad you're okay!
