scared to have a mani/pedi?

PAIF brain strikes again. i know there are certain parts of your hands and feet that can cause contractions when massaged. my OB said a pedicure was fine, but for pete's sake, i haven't even worn nail polish since before the ER because I am so paranoid. i'd really like to get one this week but wanted PAIF board approval that its safe. Anyone have one yet while pregnant?

Also, what are your thoughts on prenatal massages? I'd love to go to a spa for one but I'm so worried that whoever does it won't really be certified.

Yes, i am paranoid. These poor kids have no chance coming out without anxiety issues.

I have been thinking the same thing, I would love to go for a pedi and a massage, but I am too worried it will scew something up. I am so happy to be pregnant, but the anxiety really doesn't go away!

Just had one 2 days ago I was nervous but everything went well. I also asked my nurse she said it's fine to have one.

Meni and pedi is fine. Just make sure the place is well ventaleted area. I been getting them both pregnancies. I go to the same place every time. I do not get more polish then needed. Just the basic mani and pedi. Make sure the place is clean.

Massages are ok second trimester on and make sure it is a prenatal massage only,regular massage can cause trouble. Massage is a bit trickier, so ask your OB if worried.

I have had a pedi every month I was pg. I had a massage starting when I got into the 2 nd trimester with a person that specializes in prenatal massage. My MFM said i could have been having a massage in the first tri as well.

Jez, I've been afraid to get mani/pedis as well. I don't trust the chemicals. I went to a wedding this weekend and felt sloppy for having bare nails on hands and feet, but I'd rather be safe than sorry.

In the past couple months, I've had 2 mani/pedis and a prenatal massage. I just told the person doing my nails not to massage between my ankle bone and heel. One time the manicurist was pregnant so she already knew. For the prenatal, I just made sure they were certified in prenatal. It was done while I laid on my left and right sides, never on my stomach or back. Some places require you to get your doctor to sign-off on it, but some don't. If your OB seems fine with it, I'd definitely recommend a little pampering.

I've had numerous pedicures throughout my pregnancy. Just make sure the place has good ventilation. If you're concerned about nail polish, check out Spa Ritual polishes. They are vegan polishes. I picked up one at my Aveda salon. It doesn't last quite as long as others but it does the job.

I was nervous too. I waited until I was like 24 weeks or so. I went very early on a Sat. morning so it wasn't busy. I was more worried about the fumes in the nail salon. I left very shortly after I was done. I am actually planning to go again soon.
