Baby Clothing Sizes...

Ok, I know this is impossible to know for sure... but we had our baby girl July 22 - she weighed 8 lbs 1oz and was 20 1/2 inches long...

My question is this... we are taking a trip to Florida in December (she will be almost 5 months old when we are there) and I would LOVE to buy some clearance summer clothes for the trip - and ESPECIALLY a swimsuit now since they will be impossible to find in Ohio around that time. Does anyone have ANY estimate about what size she will wear around that time? I'm totally willing to buy a couple and return what doesn't fit later.... but I just have no idea. Hoping some "non-first time moms" can shed some info :) Thanks in advance!!! 

Oh, also she is currently still fitting into newborn clothes just fine....and will be 3  weeks on Monday...

    My LO had exactly the same measurements, and now (at 10.5 weeks) she is comfortably in 3 month clothes in the smaller brands like Carters. The 3 month stuff in the bigger brands fit but are a bit roomy. If your girl grows like mine, then I would say at almost 5 month she would be in 3-6 month clothing. Just a guess though!

    DS was a little bit bigger than yours (8lb 12oz), but he was definitely in the 3-6 month/6month sized clothes at that age. I think you'd be safe buying that size unless she has a huge jump in her growth rate.

    It really is hard to know. My DDs were both considerably smaller than yours at birth - DD1 was 6.12 and 20" and was in 3 m at 3 months, 6 m at 6 months, etc. DD2 was 5.14 and 18.5" at birth and is now almost 7 weeks old and is already grown out of newborn and wearing all 0-3 and 3 months clothes. She has grown a lot faster than her sister.

    I had one baby at about 6lbs, one at over 9lbs and my newest was just over 8lbs. The first two were well into 12 month sizes by 4-5 months and if the clothes were a bigger make maybe a nine month size as well.(or some 6-12 month clothes)

    My youngest is two months now and she is in 6 month sizes and bigger. I can fit some 3-6 month clothes on her but they are tight and look small and short.

    Buy a few sizes. I hate clothes that look small but I don't mind if it's a bit roomy so I would err on the side of larger than smaller.

    My DS was that weight but an inch and a half longer and he's a big baby now. He's 14pounds and 25 inches long at 11 weeks but he fits just perfectly into 3 month clothes and will be in 6 month sizes by 5 months. For swimming check out target and their Charlie Banana swim diapers. They are reusable and the small is size 11pounds to like 17. Definitely will fit her. That way if a swim suit doesn't fit, you can throw that on and a rash guard or even a dress or t shirt and she'll be fine. I wouldn't worry too much with a girl. Dresses are pretty forgiving both ways. Plus weather can be funny and it may not be that warm, also you'll probably find adorable stuff there too!
