Cloth Diapering

Kawaii Recommendations?

I am about to purchase our OS diapers.

I am trying to decide between the cross over Kawaii diapers (snaps) or the heavy duty (aplix).
Any suggestions? I like the idea of aplix better for waist sizing but I am worried about it becoming damaged too soon.

Re: Kawaii Recommendations?

  • I prefer their snaps over their aplix. If it helps at all, the Kawaiis that we have tend to be pretty big on DS, so they fit a little later than some of my other OS diapers. By the time I could get a good enough fit around his legs, the waist was fine on the smallest snap setting. He's always been around the 50th percentile for weight.

  • Kawaii HD2 square tab aplix have fantastic aplix. It is nothing like the crappy aplix on Thirsties or BG diapers.

So, I'd get some of both!

I'm not OP, but that's good to know! I need some aplix for the grandparents for when she outgrows the PnNs, which I feel will be soon!

The HD2 Square tab (not the round tab) aplix is the same as the P&N aplix...which I find very sturdy.

  • This is our first time cloth diapering and I'm still pregnant so I may not be much help but I've already ordered 1 BG with snaps and 1 with aplix. Tbh when I was stuffing the inserts to get an idea of how big they really are I got irritated with the aplix but I have NEVER been a fan of velcro. It could be nice if you don't feel like dealing with the snaps but I think I'm only going to order a few more with the aplix (just in case my husband prefers them) and just mainly stick to snaps.

I have a few of the HD2s, and agree that the aplix seems really sturdy. They are a lot larger than the P&N and even some of my other OS, but they fit well when on my average-sized leg 15lber. I got mine at SweetBottomsBaby because they take off a discount if you don't get the inserts (we use bamboo) and they have free shipping.

ETA and they're $1 off today at that site, not sure for how long but I just looked them up and saw the sale

When did they start fitting? We're on the last rise snap for PnNs, but she's so freaking skinny that the tabs almost need more aplix to overlap enough.

I should have checked this post last night...I was looking all over for a site that carries sbish flats and kawaii HD2s! Glad I didn't get them elsewhere!

  • The aplix on my Kawaii has done really well. All of it lasted at least 1 year, some of it is still fine after 2 years. The ones that weren't sticking well, I replaced the "hook" side on the tabs myself and they're totally good to go. DS was so wiggly, an all snaps stash would have been miserable for a long time. He's fine to use them now, but I like to save myself frustration where possible.
  • @bookitup Thanks! I'll probably just have to get a couple and keep trying them til they fit...hopefully the PnNs last til then!
