? About Transitioning from RnP

So, DD is almost 10 weeks, she's still sleeping in her RnP next to my bed. The plan was the transition her from that to the bassinet of the PnP in our room, then from the PnP to her crib in her room, all ideally by 5-6 months. The problem is that she's used to the cradling of the RnP, and wakes up/won't fall asleep when laying in a flat, open space like the PnP. I feel like swaddling her would help, as she kicks her legs around when she's in an open space like that, and it wakes her up. However, she's never been swaddled, and anyway, this is the age that babies are usually transitioned out of swaddling. Has anyone dealt with this? I've tried starting with naptime, but honestly, I work from home, and risking her waking up during naptime (the only time I can really get any work done!) is a hard sacrifice to make. Of course, I'm willing to do that if it produces results, just looking for what worked for you guys!

Re: ? About Transitioning from RnP

  • I'm in the same boat. Lilliana loves the RnP and she won't sleep flat on her back. I have started putting her in the crib for her afternoon nap. Each day she sleeps a little easier. I'm happy I started doing this now. I have the monitor on just in case she rolls.

  • I will have the same issue soon. I starts putting her in a pack n play for maps. I lay her on a soft blanket in there she seems to sleep a little longer now. Another thing I was told to try is one of those sleep sacks
  • Oh, a sleep sack might be a good idea.....I'll keep working on nap time, guess it's just going be a process.
  • I was a chicken with DS and didn't transition him from the RnP until he was at the point where he NEEDED to transition. I put him in the crib and he loved the extra space because the RnP was getting too snug. He was around 4 or 5 months.

I haven't decided what to do about DD yet.

  • I transitioned my LO from Rnp to co-sleeper a couple weeks ago I've always had him nap in co-sleep to get used to it. I took the wheels off one side of co-sleeper to elevate the head slightly as well as rolled up recieving blankets to put on his side to fill up some of the room I pull it down so it's not up by his face and also double swaddled that's all the tricks I have!
