I have been downing SO much chocolate milk this whole pregnancy! During the first trimester I would drink like 4 glasses a day which was a little excessive. I use the sugar free syrup too
My trick to leaving no syrup at the bottom of the cup is to pour in the chocolate and only half a glass of milk and stir vigorously. It won't spill over because the glass is half full. Then fill the rest of the glass and its perfectly stirred yummy delicious Choco milk with no wasted chocolate residue on the bottom.
I've been told I make it like a mom. And being a FTM now that's an adorable title to have.
I voted hot cocoa. That is really the only way I can drink chocolate milk. I absolutely hate milk and even with chocolate it's still pretty yuck to me. I buy the cheap, powdered with marshmallows kind of hot chocolate sold in the individual packets, so I hardly consider that chocolate milk.
DS drinks 2% milk with Hershey's syrup in it though.
No from scratch option?? I don't buy hersheys' syrup and don't consume powdered milk if I can help it.
That's the only chocolate milk I'll drink. I heat heavy cream, melt dark chocolate or chocolate chips in it, add some salt, sugar and vanilla. I'll either make it into hot chocolate by adding more milk or it becomes a base to make chocolate milk.
@A37licia.. I've made hot chocolate on the stove before (using cocoa powder vs. choc chips) because I don't like the powdered stuff, but I'm too lazy to do that for everyday chocolate milk cravings I never thought to make it into a base for cold chocolate milk!
@VitaLuna, I have a recipe somewhere for a water/cocoa/sugar recipe that will keep in the fridge as a base mix for a long time, if you're interested. My mom used it a bunch of times to keep a healthier mix around for my 30yo special needs brother who lives with them.
Love milk in general and enjoy cold chocolate milk once in a blue moon. Olvatine is my preferred hot chocolate drink and I will drink it once a week or so in the winter.
Ovaltine!!! I never thought it tasted as good until I tried it. Now I only feel moderately guilty about drinking so much of it. It's not like overpoweringly sweet which I can't stand. If I'm in the mood for sweet, swiss hot chocolate it is..

And you know what ladies, here's another dry mix that I have liked for a from-scratch Nesquik option. I prefer to dissolve it in a little bit of warm water first (a couple T water) and then add water. But this is a good pantry item. https://sugarbananas.blogspot.com/2010/10/homemade-nesquik.html?m=1
Chocolate milk is my ultimate weakness! I have a bad habit of telling myself I have "earned" a bottle of chocolate milk for grocery shopping with a 2 year old every time I shop. And I'm such a hypocrite. My boy has no idea what chocolate milk is. Perfect because I can get it every time and he never asks for any My favorite, when I'm up for spending the little bit of time making it, is Mexican hot chocolate. You can buy chocolate bricks at the store - like Abuelita brand - that are a dark chocolate with cinnamon. Mix in your own sugar to taste when you cook/blend it. Yum!!!
We normally buy the Hershey's syrup. My husband is a big chocolate milk drinker. I have been drinking it a lot with this pregnancy, but I had some Nesquick Strawberry Milk the other day... Now I can't get that out of my head. So good.
I know Hersey's and chocolate jug milk are way ahead in the poll but I'm so happy to see other Olvatine lovers! I thought I was the only one under 60 who bought it and enjoyed it.

I am one of those weird people that really does not like Hershey's syrup at all! I'm more of an Ovaltine or store-bought kind of girl.

I am a SS. I enjoy Hersheys, soy, Nesquick, and TruMoo (thats what the hospital has) and it depends on my mood as to which one I want.
We're one and done!
