Boston Babies

Advice on midwives/ob gyn please

I've just moved to Newton from the UK and am currently 32 weeks pregnant.  I've had 2 babies in the UK but am very confused about how things work here.  Do I need to register with a named ob gyn or can I have midwives deliver all the care (and how do I find them)?  Is there anywhere near Newton corner for all the prenatal checks or do I have to go out to Newton-Wellsey or into Brigham Womens for these?  Very basic questions I'm afraid, but I seem to be wallowing with all the choice on the net.  Many thanks!

Re: Advice on midwives/ob gyn please

  • I go to wellesley women's care. They are a practice of ob's but the office is located in a medical office section of newton wellesley hospital. They deliver at newton wellesley hospital as well. All the docs have been really nice. There are other practices that have delivery rights at newton wellesley (Harvard vanguard is 1 that also has midwives). I just assume u would want to deliver there since its close to u. Good luck!

    This.  I love Harvard Vanguard.

  • Mt Auburn Hospital in Cambridge has lots of midwives which might be more of what you are used to as care. They can deliver instead of an OB.
