Playdate Etiquette Question

DD1, 8yo, is having a playdate with a friend tomorrow.  Friend's mom called to finalize details, and said she was planning to take the girls to a movie and lunch.  Would it be appropriate for me to offer to cover some of the costs, or should I instead reciprocate with another playdate?

Re: Playdate Etiquette Question

  • I would offer to pay. Regardless, if she accepts the money, assuming the date goes well, I would casually suggest hosting a future play date. Then it's up to you to follow up.

  • I would offer to pay, also, then use it as an opportunity to figure the "ground rules" going forward.
  • I can't imagine offering to pay for a play date... Are the girls close? Are you friendly with the mom? I'd think reciprocating is the way to go.

  • I would definitely offer.   She will probably turn you down.  You can then reciprocate!

  • I would offer, doesn't mean she will take it, but I would offer.
