Thank you to those who were polite and helpful. I know that it varies person to person, but I was hoping to get some info about how others pregnancies had gone in similar situations.

  • Your baby can come anytime in the next few weeks. There is really no way to tell.

You can not be dilated or effaced at all, and have your baby later that day. You can walk around for weeks at 100% effaced and 5cm dilated.

You can have painful contractions for weeks before they even out into active labor.

Sorry, but there just isn't any moment or symptom you can have that says you are close to labor. Until you are in labor.

  • Why didn't you discuss this with your doctor? No one here can tell you this, as PP said, it is all relative since each person and pregnancy are different.
  • Are you timing your contractions?  How long are they lasting and how often are you having them?  This will help you know if you are in any sort of active labour.  Also, call your doctor/go see them if you are unsure.

  • If your due date is in a couple of days, I would say labor is 2 weeks away or less!
