I went into the ob on Tuesday because discharge that concerned me. He wasn't concerned but did a culture to ease my mind. Friday the office called me five minutes before they closed to tell me the result was positive for infection and that I needed to call them in the next five minutes so they could call in a prescription to my pharmacy. Of course I didn't get the message in time. They were calling in cipro too, a no no for breastfeeding. I didn't want to wait all weekend and let the infection get worse so I called the on call doc last night who only just learned of my birth situation last night. She wanted to check in the office for my records and so she did and called this morning to prescribe bactrim instead. I called the ped to double check if that was ok. Ped said yes, but I saw other sources that said could cause bili levels to go up in infants under 2 months. But ob and ped said it was ok. Well the pharmacy had phone issues all morning. Finally got a message that a prescription was ready around 3 this afternoon. But it was for a different drug, keflex. So I called both docs again to double check on this. The ped was no longer available just a nurse on call. Nurse said okay but could possibly give him diarrhea or thrush. This is a cillin and I have a history of c diff so I'm pretty upset about all of this. Can't something just go right for a while? ! I want to just enjoy this time with my husband and my son and I want to stop crying about everything that's happened. Ugh. I really hope that I don't have a scarier issue and that this antibiotic clears it up without causing anything more for Isaac and I.
