July 2013 Moms

I'm grateful check-in

So with all the trials that come with our little ones, I find myself sometimes dwelling...lack of sleep, sore stitches, night sweats, molten hot lava nipple pain, cluster feeding etc. So I wanted to think about what I'm grateful for!

I'm grateful DS is healthy and gaining weight.

I'm grateful he's feeding twice a night instead of 3.

I'm grateful he gave me 20mins this am in his carrier so I could sit and eat my oats and have a cup of tea (haven't done that since pp!!).

What are you grateful for, even the smallest victories? :)

(PS when did we become all rainbows and butterflies? Jeebus!)

  • I'm grateful that Emily sleeps really well at night.

I'm grateful that as sad and as anxious as I feel that my baby can come to work with me at my center. My heart goes out to those who have to drop off and leave their babies.

I'm grateful that I'm not a single mom. Those that are, are my heroes.

I'm grateful for my amazingly helpful friends that have shared in the most exciting time in my life!

    Great post!! Thanks!
  • I am grateful to have a healthy and happy baby :-)
I am grateful that i gave her breastmilk, even if it was only for 5 weeks
I am grateful for less poo diapers since we made the switch to formula ;-)
I am grateful its Saturday so my DH could take LO this morning while i let the hot water run over my aching engorged breasts in the shower (drying up is a B!)

  • I'm grateful for this time that I get to spend with him.

I'm grateful that my fears of autism have lessened because of his obvious attachment to me.

I'm grateful that finances aren't strained.

I'm grateful that his prematurity seems to have not had any effect.

The Lord has blessed us in every aspect of his life, and I really am grateful!

  • I'm grateful for my mother and sister who have been here helping us out. Couldn't do it without them especially with this terrible recovery I'm having. We handle Jae at night and mostly during the day but they take care of the house, meals and our cats which is a huge help.
I'm grateful that Jae is overall a really good baby. Only cries for the necessities of food, dirty diaper and gassiness :)
Also grateful for this board where we can come for advice and a place for support!

  • Grateful for my life. Grateful for our baby's life. Grateful for my husband. Grateful for my mom.
  • For friends who travel 300 miles to give me a semi-girls weekend (still taking care of dd, just with shopping and dinner dates I'm between) and remind me that I still have an identity besides "Aubrey' s mom" and "Gary's wife".

  • I'm grateful for LO's health, for a DH who shares the responsibilities of parenting with me, including the not so fun ones, like potty-training a 2 year old and enforcing naptime, for tons of hand-me-downs, including the swing from sister in law that works better than me to get LO to sleep, for a beautifully sunny, non-humid, and breezy day, and for chocolate and coffee to help power me through.

  • I'm grateful that BFing is going well, that Hunter is finally healthy, and for my mom who came and cleaned our entire place for us before we came home!

  • I'm grateful all 3 of my Kids are healthy.

I'm grateful for the amazing husband I was blessed with who never has to be asked to go the extra mile and always wants to make my life easier.

I'm grateful LO was sleeping well at night. Last night, not so much but am hopeful it will go back to that.

I'm also grateful that my problems with anxiety and depression haven't returned, thus far!

    Great post!!
  • I'm greatful for good insurance! Not counting prescriptions or vitamins, all I had to pay for this pregnancy was one $10 copay. I looked on my insurance's website, and the hospital, OBGYN, and MFM all together billed insurance well over $100,000! Of course, insurance paid negotiated rates, so all tolled they probably only paid out about $30,000 or so. Still, that's a whole lot more than I could afford!!!

I am greatful for my healthy baby boy.
I am greatful for my health after a close call during the c section.
I am greatful for my hubby. We had some issues in labour but he was amazing.
I am greatful for my mom who is here looking after me.
  • Without trying to sound too sappy, I'm grateful my LO is healthy, simple as that. When I think of all the times in 9 months that I worried about any number of things that could have gone wrong, I thank my lucky stars I have a healthy active little rascal. Oh and I am equally grateful for DH who works 60 hours a week so I can have the option to stay home!
  • I am grateful:

That DS is a good sleeper so far. I know that can change, but for now I'm recovering well.

That my husband is so great with both kids.

That I've got supportive friends & family. Online & IRL it helps to have the love/support.

  • I'm grateful for every inch of my baby, even though he's not healthy.

I'm grateful that today has been a good day.

I was grateful that he cried when he got his 2-month vaccines, because it's terrible to think your baby is getting used to pain.

I'm grateful that even through the pain he's experienced, Luke is still a happy, smiley little cuddlebug.

I'm grateful that even though his gut issues are a big deal, they're not causing any other problems.

I'm grateful that we have doctors and nurses that we like and trust, and even sometimes have fun with!

I'm grateful that I have my DH to take this journey with me, because I absolutely couldn't do this without him.

This kid may not have a lot of bowel, but he has plenty of guts!
DS born at 34 weeks with (surprise!) gastroschisis turned short bowel syndrome.
131 days in the NICU, 7 trips to the OR, G-button, daily TPN....
We are impatiently awaiting the day we can say goodbye to his girlfriend Ivy for good.
  • Aside from my healthy family, I'm grateful for:

my DH who is becoming the father I knew he could be

my mom, sister, MIL and SIL who have been the best support system in the world for us

my little beauty DS who is a relatively calm and happy baby who makes me fall in love with her more everyday

  • *I meant DD....sleepy as I type this...lol*
  • I am grateful for:
    - a happy and healthy toddler and newborn.
    - a husband who shows us everyday, why I married him
    - sleep/naps. I love taking naps and never understand why DD doesn't :)
    - coffee

  • I am grateful that dh is such an amazing father to our kids. He loves them so much and would do anything for them. He also takes care of the baby so I can get 6 hours straight of sleep as often as possible even though he works full time. I'm glad he is okay with us not celebrating our anniversary because we couldn't find a sitter.
  • I'm grateful that even though my pregnancy was incredibly hard on me, my son is absolutely perfect.

I'm grateful that I have my SO because he is the most loving man I could ever ask for. He reassures me daily that I am doing a good job even though there are times I feel like a terrible mom already. He hugs me when I cry and tells me how much he loves me. I honestly don't know what is do without him. Luke and I are lucky to have him in our lives.
