Should I keep it? Target find Graco classic connect

So I was perusing the Target clearance and came across the Graco Fastaction Fold Classic Connect stroller which came with the Snug Ride infant carseat. My mom picked it up for her to use as she will be taking baby a lot. She paid $100 for it. My question is- is it worth it to keep it for that price? Or should she be looking for a used set? Is it a good product? I'm a FTM and she will be a FTG. I thought it was a good buy, but she's just wondering if she should just find a used one instead. Any opinions, thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

No, do not get a used car seat.  Anything new is better than a used one.  Car seats are about the last thing I would buy used; they expire, and crashes (even minor ones) can cause weaknesses in the seat.  Consignment stores and resale shops don't accept used car seats, and for good reason.

  • That's a great price for a travel system when most infant seats are more than that.

Are you planning on getting a different car seat? You can use that car seat and have her get a second base. Is she keeping the stroller and were you planning on getting another?

She can always get a used stroller but not a used car seat.

  • That's a good idea to get a second base. Although, I was originally looking at a different travel system brand altogether. My mom was going to keep the stroller and carseat for her use. Thanks Katie-you gave me something to think about. Does my mom really need her own carseat? Hmmm...

I would do just that... get another base for your cars and use that seat and then get whatever stroller you want.  There's really no reason to have 2 infant seats since the seat is almost always with the child.

This. You can register for or get a better stroller. My recs for a stroller with Graco would be the Aprica Presto flat, the City Mini, or the Valco Snap. The City Mini and the Valco you'd need the adaptor for, but you will love that set up.

  • Did it come with the Snugride with the 22lb limit? Not a good fit for most newborns and most come with rear harness adjust. Extremely frustrating, let me tell you! If it's the 30/35, your good to go!

  • The carseat is a 30. Maybe another question is--Did anyone's mother, specifically one who does a lot of babysitting, get their own carseat or stroller to keep at their house?

To me, I just don't want to return it for the simple fact of the price. There were just some other systems I was looking into that had better reviews and that came recommended by other moms. And I feel that there are better systems for safety, or else I'd keep the set for myself and just get the bases for DH and my mom.

    Hmm...

As far as safety goes it's a pass fail system. They all go through the same testing. When you see them rated differently it's based on ease of use NOT safety! I can understand your mom wanting her own carseat and Stroller but the seat will likely stay with the child. I agree with PPs get a 2nd base for your mom and let her keep the Stroller. You can still get a different Stroller for yourself and use the Graco carseat.

This. If you are still worried check out Carseats for the Littles on Facebook or this site:

I think a lot of moms will tell you that their carseat is the safest but that isn't really totally true. I think you got a great deal and a safe easy to use seat.

I think it makes the most sense to let your mom have the stroller (assuming she wants to go on walks) and then get her a base for the car seat.  Again, I really can't imagine that you ever separate the infant and the carseat when they are young. I always carry DS into my in laws house in his seat and then take him out so it's always with him.   Save your money later for a convertible because she is likely going to need her own seat them if she watches your LO a lot.
