  I agree with Joi and Brit. When Ava has this problem I either give her a bottle of straight prune juice, and/or a pouch of prunes. I make sure to always have a small stash of them in the cupboard just in case. Hope your little guy is feeling better soon!

  This.  We use pear juice and it usually gets things going pretty quickly.  I put a couple of tablespoons in her milk/water.

  Sorry you're dealing with this. We had a terrible bout of constipation last month (she was in horrible pain, crying, etc) and her pedi who usually recommends against it thought it was severe enough to prescribe Miralax and a suppository. Didn't have to use the suppository thankfully. It's an issue we have if she doesn't get a regular dose of prune juice. As for the Miralax dosage, we were told to use the infant sort and give her the regular measurement indicated in the lid (there's a line on it I believe), but we gave her a bit less as it was meant for slightly older kids.

  Thanks for the advice, ladies!  I will stock up on prunes & pears.  He had another huge poop this afternoon (more crying, so sad) and then a normal mess explosion tonight, so hopefully the worst of it is passed!

  I've also put Emma on the toilet like @jessie11LU .  I think the position helps a lot.
