Exposed to strep

So we went to a family event with my husband's family tonight. No one failed to mention to us until later that his cousin had been diagnosed with strep today and my SIL and her kids have it too. I stayed outside with the baby but the damage is done. I'm really scared one or both of us is going to get sick. Anyone know incubation period or symptoms for an infant?

  • This would make me so mad. What were they even doing out?

  • I could be wrong but I read somewhere its very rare for babies to get strep because of your antibodies and their tonsils are really small. Hope that's true.

I've read this too. Also read that if a baby does get strep, it will appear within 2-5 days. I'm sure your LO will be okay - I will cross my fingers that you stay healthy too! Still, I can't believe that no one told you that they were sick - how crummy. I'm surprised they were even there risking others health in the first place!

  • Yep, babies won't get strep :) It's super uncommon before about 3 years old!
  • Good to hear! Just keeping my fingers crossed.
