if you still need a carrier...

Just buy the Ergo. I know they're expensive but it's so worth it. I've been messing with the Moby wrap for 11 weeks and tried a chicco carrier as well and always had 1 hand supporting him so I've never been able to be hands free. Granted, my son is on the heavy side, but still. Finally with the Ergo I feel like he's very supported and it's comfortable and easy to put on. Plus it goes up to 45 lbs!

You could probably even look on craigslist for one. This is a game changer for me so just wanted to share.

  • Did you buy the newborn insert? I've been waiting until LO is 4 months because that's when you can use it without the insert. And people told me the insert would be too hot for summer so just wondering if it seemed hot at all for your LO.

I've been wondering this too. I have one but haven't used it. My LO weighed almost as much at 2 mo as my cousins baby at 4 mo so I have been wondering if I can use it. I know it is probably more about neck control though. But my LO is pretty strong. Hmm

  • No, I didn't get the insert. I definitely will for baby #2 so I can start using it right away, but my sons over 15 lbs and has pretty good neck control already.

Mine says insert under 12lbs. We used it without insert at 1 month with DS2 because the insert is so hot in the summer. As long as you put their legs in froggy style they're perfectly comfy before 4 months !

Edit: as long as you have the straps tight enough and babys head is close against your chest, head control shouldn't matter

Thanks! I'll bust it out. DS is about 15lb now.

  • I have used the ergo without insert since 4 weeks... Seems exactly like my Mei tai that is fine for little ones so went for it when M seemed to hate the insert. Recently I have used the too part for additional head support but not the bump at bottom. Love the ergo and the baby hawk!

  • I didn't buy the insert and have used the ergo several times since she was 4 weeks old. DD is 10 weeks and 13 lbs now but has always felt secure in it and rested her head against me before she could hold it up.

I'd put a Movember mustache fail, but then
you'd all have to look at it until February.
  • I got the ergo as well and it is a total life saver. My LO has got to be a little over 12lbs by now ( 11lbs 12oz at 2 month apt) and she seemed a little low for me. I bought the insert but only use the pillow that it comes with. The pillow did wonders for my LO she feels more secure and I have her at perfect height to kiss her cute little head :)

  • I started with the Baby K'tan but it takes too long with 2 little ones. I ended up getting the Infantino Ergonomic Carrier that was a special on amazon and like that much better. I think anything with that design is a lifesaver.

  • I posted in the what do I regret not buying about wishing for an ergo and then you posted this - hadn't thought about Craigslist and so glad you mentioned it because I found one for $50!!! I pick it up tomorrow! Thanks for posting!!
  • We have the Ergo but haven't used it yet. It's over 100 degrees here so time outdoors is limited. Glad to hear all of the positive reviews!

  • The ergo is supposed to be better for baby's hips and back versus the bjorn. I have both and love how easy the bjorn is to use but have switched to the ergo for that reason. DS hated the infant insert so I'm kicking myself for spending money on it.
  • I'm wanting to buy a new carrier.  I bought a cheap one (the JEEP one) and I hate it. I've been planning on geting the Classic Baby Bjorn, cause I had it with DS1 and liked it.

Has anyone had experience with both of these?  Would you prefer the Ergo of the Bjorn?

I don't have experience with the Bjorn, but I did remember this review:

Hope that helps. I started with a baby K'tan bc it's so hot here right now and that was a fail.

  • My LO hates the ergo :(
  • I just got an Ergo too.  I got it on sale at Nordstroms for around $92.  Not sure if the sale is going on still, but might be worth looking in to.

My 2nd hated everything except a sling until she was old enough to look around. She was just too nosey for facing in at a young age.
