Bumpers

LO officially hit his head on the crib last night. I am considering putting bumpers in my crib but they totally freak me out. Does anyone use the regular bumpers? I see a lot of people I am friends with post pictures on facebook and you can see regular bumpers in the crib. I know it is recommended to not have anything in the crib, and I would love to stick with that, but I feel bad whenever LO bumps his head or his leg or arm gets stuck! I also saw the previous post about mesh bumpers too.

Does anyone use regular bumpers?
Any suggestions beside the use the bumpers?

  • On a side note, I wish my siggy would change! I have saved it a million times.

As much as I would love to leave them in because of how nice they look, once LO goes into his crib, I will replace with the mesh ones we got. Too scared to go against the recommendation to remove them. My husband wanted me to return them bc of how expensive they were but it makes the look of the crib. So ill just put them back in when he isn't sleeping! Kinda like making his bed lol
This! Everyone laughs at me for "making" his bed every morning. I loosely put his bumper in and his stuffed animals. I know it's super silly, but I just love the way his nursery looks...and if it's somewhere where I spend the majority of the day playing with DS...then I want it to look a certain way. So silly, I know.
  • I found my LO with both legs sticking out of the rails sound asleep the other morning.  The bumpers freak me out, but a lady at work said her daughter bought some "breathable" ones that have air pockets in them.  Has anyone else heard of these?

Breathable baby. We ordered ours from amazon.

Target also has mesh ones. They are nice for the breathable factor and your LO can't use them very effectively for climbing purposes once standing. Double win.

  • FFFC - I totally don't "make" her bed. I've been known to move her to the other end of the crib if she spits up in the middle of the night to avoid changing the sheet until morning.

I know I cannot be the only one who does this. lol

I do that too! Sometimes the first time I try to put DS down for the night, he spits up and then wakes up. I just comfort him for a minute then put him back higher up or lower in the crib. Luckily he's not very mobile yet.

I do that too. My LO turns and moves like crazy in his sleep, but if he spits up I just put him a little lower or higher because I'm just to tired to care. I did put bumpers in his crib though the other day because he constantly gets his legs caught between the bars and then gets "stuck" and ends up waking up. He is still waking up a few times during the night and he moves so much I'm not overly worried about it right now. When he does start STTN I will reevaluate the bumpers.
