STM: Disney

When was the first time you took your LO to Disney? When is the best time to take them? The ladies I work with all have kids so the summer months get filled up quickly with vacation. I wonder if it will be worth it to take LO to Disney next summer July/Augish.

  • We took DD when she was 2 and it was wonderful. She remembers it and we really enjoyed our time with her.

Floridian here and July/August are our hottest months. I'd recommend going in spring or fall.

ETA: to answer your question we will likely wai until LO is 4-5. Disney is exhausting enough as an adult without kids to drag along. I can't wait to have her experience it but on te other hand I totally can.

I'm from Ft Lauderdale so the heat doesn't really bother us too much.

Good to know...was she scared of the charecters at all?  We will probably make it an annual thing once we start.

  • No, she was very into them. It was great because she was happy spending a few hours at the park and then getting a nap. She loved the rides and all the shops. We went in November and it was great weather and they had the Christmas decorations up which were super cool.
  • We're waiting a couple more years until both kids are old enough to enjoy and remember it.

Yep. Nothing about taking Mila at this point seems appealing. I know Ava is at the age where she'd enjoy it but we will probably wait until they're 2 and 4 or 3 and 5. My inlaws are Disney Vacation Club members so we can stay for free which is awesome.

  • We are annual passholders and have already taken LO. It is too hot in July/August to be around large crowds. We go for about two hours at a time, first thing in the morning, and then come home totally exausted. September and October are much better times to visit. As far as age, at 3 months, he was curious of the characters....now that we are in month four, he has become "chatty" and just super cute with them. Each park has a nice baby care area to have some quiet air conditioned time for feeding or diaper changes. I know it will be more fun all around when he is able to walk and experience the rides, but for now seeing him light up for certain characters makes it all worth it.
  • I wouldn't ever go in July/August because of the weather, not because of ages. We're going in October and they'll be 3 and 7 months. I'll let you know how it goes! lol

  • DD went the summer after she turned 1 and. The summer after she turned 2. The 2nd trip was much better. The 1st trip she was scared of the characters and didnt really know any of the pricesses yet. By the 2nd year she was in heaven there. She thought the characters were superstars and really loved the magic of disney. I don't think she will remember it in the grand scheme of things but seeing her reaction was a memory I will definitely remember forever.
